What problem was solo-queing for bg's supposed to solve?

I still frequently get matches with teams that don't have 4 people, and performance is just as bad as ever. So nothing improved, and now I can't play with any of my friends.

    It was supposed to solve the problem with pre-made groups facing solo queuers. Something that you can work around if you know how to.

    Yeah that's the other thing...I've had multiple instances of groups that were obviously together.

    I don't think the change had anything to do with group balance and everything to do with the group finder falling apart.

    I did a spree of Battlegrounds last night and almost ever time I was against the same 4 man group, and every time I was in a group of 3

    Fundamentally it was supposed to increase the number of players playing BGs

    Players were avoiding BGs because of premades.. and there clearly aren’t enough players doing BGs to justify having 2 queues (a single player one and a group one).

    This is ZOS’s attempt to see whether a single player queue will increase BG player numbers... it will probably need at least 2 updates (ie six months) to see whether it has had any definitive long term effect

    3 player teams may be an issue with the group finder, but they may also be a reflection of BG player numbers... it may be preferable to start a match with 11 players after, say, 90 seconds than wait another 30 seconds for a 12th player....

    Strong pre-made groups in battlegrounds led to less fun all around. Playing against them felt futile most of the time, and when I've gone in with a group, wiping the other teams felt very anti-fun and unevenly matched

    I miss queuing up with a buddy or two, but pre-mades caused a lot of uneven-ness. Been digging into duels and the occasional IC for group play

    In addition to preventing premades from fighting solos and thereby hopefully drawing in more players, having a solo only Q probably makes matchmaking easier. Trying to match 12 individual players based on mmr is probably easier in a low population scenario then trying to match groups of various sizes with individuals while simultaneously adjusting the mmrs of the group players to account for thier advantage.

    You know there was also colluding in BGs right? I can't count how many times I had to fight 8 people alone (and still won by the way :D ).

    Haven't seen those guys at the top of the leaderboards anymore, wonder if it was really "playing with friends" or finding a way to face only first-time BG players while at the top of the leaderboard and colluding in two of the BG groups that really set their positions straight.

    Well, the PVP community complained incessantly about pre-made groups and this is the result. Now those of us who played BGs with friends no longer play BGs.

    ZOS should have made a solo and group queue option. Hope we get that in the future.

    That is probably what they will do (although it will look like one queue to us, if you don't look too closely) but it will take time for them to work out how they want to do it, and then time to implement it.

    It has done it's job, but it has left people who want to play with their friends in a bit if a pickle.

    The uber groups are the ones to blame for this. ZOS only did what was requested of them.

    There have been incomplete groups for battlegrounds prior to the change as well.


    So, Players that which they are good at what they do are punished???? This is nonsense with all mind behind that...This is not to solve the problem. They should have write a code to separate good and bed or non experienced from each other.

    How are they supposed to do that, where there is a limited amount of people in the queue, and four of them are already in a group?

    There were always going to be winners and losers with this type of change. It would appear that the former outsizes the latter.

    Hopefully zos can find a way to solve this. It could be that over level 50 battlegrounds have two queues, and below level 50 only has single player queues.

    I don't know whatvge solution is. The current method is better for the masses, but at a cost to the likes of yourself. It's not perfect, but it was worse before.

    penalty for leaving bg is to democraty in my opinion, u can leave if u team is suck after 2 min, wait 4 min and go new bg.

    given that feedback is apparently equally split between solo and group queue according to rich, I would say there were an equal number of winners and losers.

    we won't know if there is enough people for some kind of group queue until we see one. we can't draw inferences from either past queues or current because of the nature of the queue system in both cases. some groups did not want to queue into solo players due to boredom, so stopped plying before change. some only queued when they could do organized groupvgroup events. Plus, it really is all bout the rewards. Want people to do instanced group pvp? give them an incentive to do so, and they will.

    frankly, I think allowing duos into the solo queue would solve a lot of this, but I still would like to see a group queue. It could allow the game's pvp to grow in interesting & good ways, and also put a greater focus on where some adjustments might need to be made.

    Playing against a full pre-made group while you were in a team with casual players just there to have fun was a nightmare. It was seriously not even worth the effort, because you'd just get stomped on anyway. Basically, it wasn't fun.
    Having said that, playing solo isn't either. What they could do is open it up to allow 2 people to queue together, so you could at least bring a friend along.

    Not to beat a dead horse, but there won't be a healthy population till the game's problems are fixed so I don't see how anyone can determine what to do till then.

    In all seriousness, as long as full group battlegrounds are finished, at least for lowbies, I'm not overly bothered if the direction needs to change again. Others might feel differently.

    I actually did make friends in battlegrounds, which is how I used to find people to queue with.

    duo queue in the main queue would resolve a lot of issues, but not all. I think they could make group bgs more popular with rewards etc from them.
