Sealed Writs - Show if we know enough to craft it!

Please show in the writ description if we know enough to craft the writ before we accept it.

A warning when we are accepting it that we don't know the pattern would be good as well.

I agree and better yet don't give writs for motifs that haven’t even been released yet aka common sense.

Agreed. I'm sure this already happened to all of us. We get a good and valuable writ. It's an item with a trait we even know from a set we have the required number of researched traits for. We accept the master writ and only at the crafting station we realize "Oh no, I don't know this style for this type of armor/weapon and buying it would cut into my profit too much and defeat the whole purpose".

This so much! I've had a New Moon Priest BS writ sat in my quest log for 3 weeks now, I knew all the motifs in game so didn't bother checking before I used it. I can't abandon it because it's for over 100 vouchers so my bank is filling up with writs I can't do because you can only accept one at a time (also a stupid idea!)

While we're at it, it would be nice if we could get incremental completions on master writs. Doing gold jewellery writs in particular is very stressful, I'm never 100% sure I haven't made a mistake until after I've already used the very expensive mats. It would be nice to have a something pop up on screen saying its been crafted correctly before I have to improve it

Oh, yes very nice idea! It could be a checklist with things you already have.
    1. "Rubedite Sword? Check.
    2. NMA set? Check.
    3. Sharpened? Check.
    4. Epic? No check.
    5. Hlaalu style? No check."

I would completely agree with this! Noting partial progress would be helpful, like crafting a few of a potion.

BTW, I went and did exactly this error just after posting this. I was certain I had purchased the Redoran Pants pattern, but it turns out I had not. Now I either find it (not easy), leave a quest clogging my queue for a while, or abandon it. Annoying.

Um.... I have an addon that does that. Are all of you on console that you don't?

I made a suggestion about this a week ago that details of the writ be written in red similar to how skills in a recipe appear in red if you haven't attained them yet.

Or maybe make all writs Character Bound and pay a bit less, but you cannot receive a master writ you cannot make at the time you get it.
It makes no sense you'd be given an assignment you can't fulfill and be allowed to wait indefinitely to do it. Clients really don't want to wait that long.

Ugh. No thanks. I keep writs around forever if they're worth a lot of vouchers. Eventually I'll get the stuff so I can fill it. LOVED that 635 vouchers jewelry writ....

Making writs character bound would be utterly awful and suck so incredibly hard. Most crafters do daily writs on a couple of characters. but only have the motif knowledge on one. Making them char bound means for the most chars you'd be severely limited in terms of what writs that would drop (a lot of expensive motifs gives a lot better voucher reward). Not to mention it removes the ability to power level a character through writs. Making them account bound would be slightly less awful, but still remove the market for master writs which isn't completely tied to players motif knowledge. I sell a few writs a week that I can craft myself, but don't want to due to the mat cost being too high. Players who need the vouchers (I assume), still buy them. Still would not exist with that idea.

Instead, giving everyone the same functionality that the Writ Worthy add-on provides PC players would be a better idea. That is: let the player see in a clear way whether they can craft the writ or not. And also stop alts from accepting master writs accidentally.

This. Every very useful addon on the PC should be integrated into the console version!

    Ugh, no.
That would prevent me from stashing them away in my 1000 private guildbank slots, where they don't clutter my personal bank or house storage.

For that matter, it would also prevent me from putting them in my personal bank as well, or even the house chests, since character bound items can't be removed from the character in any way.
They are a bit like the accursed "loadstones" in Nethack in that particular sense.

WritWorthy is probably the most popular addon that does exactly this.
It also shows the estimated cost per voucher, calculated based on the current material costs.

The latter feature is extremely useful for jewelry writs, since you can see right away which writs might be worth keeping and which are a target for immediate destruction.

I was just going to say that it does show it and then I remembered it is also an add-on :joy:

So many simple things could be added to the game without needing add ons

Yes, it can be quite useful.
It should be easy to code, all the Devs really need is to make some function/s of TRUE or FALSE(i.e boolean).
Some videos I recorded for fun: Main character:
PC EU main: Universe - AD magicka Sorcerer, Former Emperor, Grand Overlord, The Merciless, Trial Bosses Solo Champion
Top alts: Genius(stamina/sagicka Dragonknight) The Force(stamina Nightblade) and other chars.
PC NA main: The Magic - AD magicka Sorcerer
