I hop on to grab the millions of gold about to expire in my mailbox after being off the game for weeks. Just mentioning “anyone play ‘insert game title’ It’s so fun” should not call for being cursed out and told to get tf off of eso. Also, when someone couldn’t kill my in a duel I’m told “f*** you”.

Now these people don’t bother man, rather I feel sorry for them. This post is to just remind everyone that this is a game. This is not real life. You don’t need to threaten, Harass, and curse other players out. It’s not that serious everyone. Remember why YOU play. It’s to have fun. Remember that before you start venting to someone.

Also. Just because people in zone say things they disagree with or don’t like about the game, doesn’t give cause for you to label them as trolls.

I don't understand why some people are affected.

You come to a game and start publicly promoting another game to complete strangers. Does that sound like a provocation to you?

“Publicly promoting another game” this is what I’m talking about.

Am I not aloud to try and initiate conversation about something other than the MMO I’m playing, in an MMO?

You mean because (1) everyone who plays ESO joined the official forums on the very first day that they started to play the game-- which we all know is NOT the case, since ZOS has to send you an invite, which doesn't happen right away-- or (2) the length of time that someone has been on the forums determines how much right they have to say something?

I’ve been playing since beta and just recently got a ticket. But yes that is what he meant lol.

Sorry mate but showing up to duel in a stalemate (tank) build IS a troll thing to do as it wastes your opponents time.

You got the wrong guy. I don’t have tank build.

Also, you telling people their play style is a “waste of time” is what I mean. If it’s wasting your time log off.

This is my first and prob last post. Just wanted to remind everyone especially during these times that it’s only a game. But do they affect me personally? Lol no.

I understood it just fine. You came to a game, did what others must have perceived as a provocation, and then wondered why you got a rude response. I am "writing these things" to make you aware what you did was inappropriate/frowned upon behavior, since you did not seem to realize that.

Nope. That wasn’t the purpose of my post. I’m sorry you weren’t able to comprehend the OP. You can keep your hurtful words to yourself though.

Since you can’t understand what you read in my OP, here is a summary. I just want YOU to understand.

Everyone needs to relax and have fun it’s only a game. Things people say don’t bother me because it’s meaningless to me.

There you go. Now I get what you are trying to do. You are trying to be “that person” on this thread. Just stop. You aren’t being productive. Maybe you should read the rules of the forums again.

That is what i was replying to. If that was not "the purpose of your post" then maybe you should not have included it in said post.

lol, that's funny. Shame on them for not building less defensively so you can kill them. You can always just exit the duel and call it a draw?

Starting a conversation is completely fine. If you started talking about your vacation plans, you would likely not get any rude responses.

Starting to promote another game in general chat, however, is generally frowned upon, and considered trolling. It is like kicking a beehive and then telling the bees "you just need to relax". That is what i am trying to tell you here.

Why do you keep trying to tell me things unrelated to the PURPOSE of this post?

Also, “it’s frowned upon” for one human being to ask other human beings if they played a new game that was out and what they think?

Finally, I didn’t ask you to “try” to tell me anything.

So, the thing about the whole "talking about another game in zone chat" is that for a lot of people ESO is pretty much their "main" game that they play all the time. I can't understand that either (I'd be bored outta my mind if I only ever played the same game, but then I come from a single-player background and ESO is my only MMO, so maybe that's a factor), but the thing is, I don't have to understand it - just accept it. Meaning, if you want to have a friendly conversation about other games, zone chat is really not the best place to do it. Guild chats might be the better idea, if you have a general feeling of the people you'll talk to there.

Also, you really shouldn't pay so much mind to what the folks in zone chat say, anyway. The stuff that goes on there sometimes can range from hilarious to atrocious. Don't take it too seriously.

This is what I'm going to give you some thoughts to think about alone there. I'm not going to teach you life or playing games, so I understand you might disagree - this is your right, so I have no point to argue as well as you don't have to agree with me or do it either. Every phenomenon in our lives, except only one that has nothing common with life, is a part of our lives. This is the reason people feel the very same emotions in spite of what they do - working, playing games, drinking together, etc. You can't screw over someone in your school, office or in the bar and say "Hey, guys, it's just school, work, or bar not the real life! We're just getting education, money, or fun here!" when they reprove you for something. You have to understand that everything we do is the real life. What is different is what exactly we do: at school we have school troubles, at work we have work troubles, when we retire we have far another troubles we usually do not even think of when we're at school or in the office.. Thus in a video game we have those virtual troubles. But whatever we do, we experience the very same feelings and it is unwise to think they should be absent or be some other. Your children's troubles might be futile to you, but think of that your troubles might be as well futile to them - who of you is more serious in the approach and attitude?

So saying that fun is the reason we play video games is almost like saying that fun is the reason we live. Now the very original post of yours proves the idea: you got emotionally touched being in a video game, you felt real life emotions, but ask those who did the same not to feel or express them, to separate virtual life from the real one. Think of it. You've done exactly the thing you accuse them in. I mean your emotions as well as theirs are both normal, though different, just don't tell them to "remember they are in a video game" when you feel sorry for them yourself. This is the very same real life thing :p. Denying a part of your life as unserious and unworthy might lead to denying the life itself. Because life as well as any part of it, like video games, school, family life, work life, etc. ends. The difference is that you might think there is no other life beyond this one - this is why you might think it is serious while a video game is not. But would you consider your life serious knowing you'll have to live a completely other one after it? Yes, you would of course, but only until that life ends. This is why a good game, like the Elder Scrolls series, as a simplified model of life itself, must invoke the more emotions the better and "fun" is not the only link of that chain. If there's no afterlife after the game ends, then why do we bother while we play it? But then again, if it exists - why do we still bother ;)?..
Thanks for reading, OP, and thanks for your original post :). It helped to keep in mind the Elder Scrolls is just a game ;).
