Can we please get an answer as to why style pages aren't bankable, or even stackable?

I understand that style "pages" are actually containers, like the waterlogged satchels you can get from fishing, and that containers aren't stackable. But a style "page" works exactly the same way a motif page does; you use it, and it unlocks a craftable style. In fact, when you use a style container, it doesn't open like every other container with the actual style inside; it get automatically used up.

So if it looks like a motif page and acts like a motif page - motif pages being actually stackable and bankable - can we PLEASE get style containers recategorized as pages, or at least get an explanation for why they're classified as containers? Because style pages not being stackable or bankable is ridiculous. RIDICULOUS.

They can be put in a guild bank for safekeeping, @Saucy_Jack ... either a personal guild bank or a trusted guild bank.

I hope you’re not holding on to any of the recent anniversary outfit styles ... as those aren’t going to hold any value for at least a year.

Bottom line, though, the outfit styles being in containers is an intentional mechanic to minimize players from hoarding.

I guess the reason is that you will only use style pages once on account but you might want to give an motif to an another character to learn for writs or crafted gear.

But yes its a bit weird, it might be an bit that they don't want players to simply store them on an bank alt for some months and then sell but all the style pages outside the vMA weapon styles became very cheap anyway.
Grinding just make you go in circles.

But I mean, people resell motif pages all the time, and bank them for that very purpose. So why are motifs allowed but not style pages?

I've wondered the same thing, and agree with what @Taleof2Cities said.

The best explanation I've been able to come up with on my own is that (1) crafting motifs are not learned account-wide the way outfit styles are, so there's a need to be able to bank crafting motifs or store them in a chest to let one character transfer them to other characters; and (2) since outfit styles are account-wide, the only thing we have any need to do with outfit style pages we've already learned-- aside from destroy them-- is mail them to other players, sell them to other players, or donate them to a player guild, hence the need to be able to deposit them in the guild bank even though we cannot deposit them in the regular bank.

But that doesn't explain why identical pages aren't at least designed to stack together the way identical crafting motifs do-- although one possible advantage of not letting them stack is that it makes it easier for a player to withdraw a style page from the guild bank, as opposed to withdrawing a stack of a given unknown crafting motif, learning the motif, and then having to redeposit the remaining stack back in the guild bank.

ZOS doesn't just have a communication problem with their customers, they have an internal communication problem as well. Different departments within ZOS do different things, and since they have poor communications we end up a system where somethings stack and some don't.

To be clear, it would be very easy to make them stackable. Multiple different ways to go about this.

It was a design choice they made to have them not be stackable. The reason? Well your guess would be as good as mine.

My guess is a design for the sake of inventory inconvenience. Stacking up a bunch of these while doing crafting writs is an inventory nightmare. ESO+ alleviates that. The non-combat pet that grants 5 inventory space alleviates that.

Because people like me would buy them up and corner the market. It's not that hard. I did it with Prophet pages 6 months ago - spent a day buying all I could for 500-1000g, then sold them in zone for 3K ea.

See, you actually have quite a small economy, and you don't have to buy them all, you just have to buy enough to make people think they're in short supply. :)

It's not a conspiracy theory at all. It's quite well-established that games designed around cultivating addiction (like MMOs are) purposefully create inconveniences for players so a segment of them will then pay for their resolution. Whether or not this particular inconvenience was contrived for such purposes is unknown, but the effect incentivizes pay for convenience regardless in its own small way. It also has other effects, such as preventing players from hoarding these items and encouraging trade/sharing with the community. So there's plusses and minuses to this particular case, but on the whole, it's a questionable design decision for style pages to not stack when motif pages do. Granted, we could then also ask if it's questionable for style pages and motifs to be two distinct things at all in the first place, but that's another conversation.

As stated earlier, reselling of motifs for profit happens constantly, so this doesn't seem to be a valid reason why style "pages" got singled out as non-bankable/stackable.

They're not exactly the same and I can think of good reasons for the status quo.

First, yes, it's incredibly annoying. I couldn't even guess how many of these I had to delete and type "DELETE" for during the anniversary.

Second, style pages aren't craftable and also don't contribute to writ quality. They're purely for use in the outfit system.

Third, while there are some really great ones which I use, I think they're very obviously targeted at new players. Who don't have a lot of gold and also might not understand the game and events well enough to farm an entire set.

The point of them not being stackable is to make them cheap as dirt on guild traders and allow new players a better chance at being able to make a nice look in the outfit system. Without needing to dive into the MASSIVE motif grind.

Or in the case of less bountiful ones like say, the opal weapon ones from the dungeon event, something which new players could sell for a decent amount of gold, to give them a leg up.

It's not great for everyone. Certainly not me. But I don't think this is broken.

Why? You only need one on your account. They are worthless and who wants to item manage every drop in the game?

Noob perspective though - gold (quality) is good. Special. Valuable.

A lot of players would have been receiving these and possibly hoarding them with no appreciation for how little gold value they actually have.

It's not like ESO has a global AH where players can easily check such things.

You either need to run an addon with a third party .exe for which no-one is accountable. Total security no-no.

Or alt tab out of the game (immersion breaker!) to check the TTC website.

    Here is my thoughts

First you need to create a whole bunch of extra crafting characters because you think that this thing is going to have a low drop rate like that gorgeous worm cult motif

Next with a full set up of characters you realise you can grind this dam thing out in barely 48 hours, you will then spend the rest of the time right clicking these things marking them as junk before getting the twitch to clear out your junk section at least once a day, I mean seriously, why can’t we just dump these things on npc merchants the same way we get rid of surplus lock picks 🤬

Finally you will be politely asked to clean out the guild bank because for some reason people have taken it into their heads to dump hundreds of these stupid things in there because they’re too lazy to junk and delete them their own. It’s almost as bad as all those worthless jewellery crafting writs they keep dumping in there 😡
