Shame on ZOS? Or shame on me?
I wanted to buy another 60-item storage chest on the PC EU server, but wasn't quite at 200 writ vouchers yet, so I decided to buy a Blacksmithing master writ to get the few more vouchers I needed to afford another chest.
While shopping for a master writ, I made sure to check the sets called for to see how many known traits were required, since I don't know all 9 traits yet on all items. The style didn't matter, because I planned to buy the appropriate motif page and/or style mat if necessary.
So I bought a writ and accepted the job, then began searching for the motif page-- except it was nowhere to be found, because it hasn't even been released yet!
What the...? I'd seen threads about this wonderful little fact in the forums, but when shopping for master writs I hadn't thought to check that the style called for was actually available in the game.
So now I've accepted a Blacksmithing master writ for a New Moons Priest item I have no way to craft. Lovely! That'll teach me to not triple-check every tiny detail of a master writ before accepting it.
I'd rather not just abandon the quest, even though it wouldn't be a big loss in terms of money spent. (Now I know why that particilar master writ was so cheap compared to all the other ones at the traders.) And I'm not so hung up on doing master writs that I can't bide my time until the stupid motif is actually released-- at the end of next month? I'm not sure how the motif pages will be obtained-- as RNG drops in dragon reward chests? If so, I guess that means they'll be selling for astronomical prices at the traders. Maybe I should just abandon the job after all, huh?
I ended up buying a couple of Enchanting master writs and was able to get the chest, so I'm happy on that account. But it really and truly stinks that master writs are being given out for motifs which haven't even been released in the game yet!
I've fought mudcrabs more fearsome than me!
