Would you support faction uniforms to reduce the lag?

Your character appearance is an even lesser contributor to the current perfomance issues than the poor deer you mention. They are server side-issues caused by moving too many calculations to the server and have nothing to do with character rendering which is a client-side operation.

    This right here.

Why stop there. Make all characters in Cyrodiil look identical in all manner and means. All males with the same sliders for everything and pick one race per alliance for appearance sake.

I am pretty sure this thread is not providing Zos with any fresh idea like the OP think they are doing. Second, I am pretty sure OP is not aware of what value such an idea would bring and is just making a shot in the dark. There are likely much wiser ideas that Zos can use other than putting everyone in the same uniform.

    No thanks.

As a wise man of culture once said -

    First priority is looking good.
    Second is playing good.
Third is smoke enough skooma until you can fit your legs behind your head.

    First and third are interchangable.

My role in PVP has always been tactical aesthetic support. Groups want me because my appearance is so divinely striking that, if the enemy doesn't cower in fear upon first gaze, they will be so caught off guard by such raw, untamed beauty that the distraction gives enough time for my group to flank them from behind. Is it possible I may accidently run a scroll into lava? Sure. But know that I will look damn good doing it.

You take away my looks, you take away my purpose. Don't take that away from me. I'm like a majestic peacock - you gotta let me fly.

    TLDR; I'm a terrible PVPer.

Yes. All 3 factions should automatically appear in their faction's uniform in Cyrodiil.
It would defiitey add some more realism.

All the multicolouered shiny pokemon outfits ^^, how could you ever tell friend from foe if there wasn' t some magic tag floating nearby telling what faction you belog to?

I did write something like that a time ago :D

    Old text copy:

I dont know, im not a dev ^^ but wouldnt it help to impliment uniforms ? 1 style for all like a mercenary armor and mount , exept for colored tabards AD yellow, DC blue and EP red ?

    Cyrodiil - Uniform
Normal world and instances - Look wild like you want

I mean the server have enougth to do with Item sets, CPs, skills, cds, AC and on top of that itemstyles and mounts.
Cyrodiil is a warzone and not ESOs next topmodel ?

We sacrified already more and more, it is enough!
every performance improvement ends with an armageddon
    and so would this
ZOS should rather consider to take the PvP to an extra server............

It's sad because Cyrodiil was optimized for performance at launch. It's very flat compared to the rest of the game.

In the broader PC PVP community, performance has become paramount to studios. Valorant runs at 120+ FPS on 10 year old hardware. 60 FPS isn't considered to be enough for responsive PVP anymore. Though framerate is only a rough measure that usually fails to capture microstutter.

I yearn to play with the highly responsive client we had in 2015. I am amazed by how well it ran in the clips I have from 2.0 and 2.1.

I think the impact of asset management is much greater than is recognized. It would help, at least, if ESO had larger caches for PC players with more memory. Half the problem is how needlessly aggressive the system is.

Art assets don't create network lag, they create client processing lag while the assets are managed. You can feel this when you leave an extremely busy area like Rawl by transiting to a different location in Reaper's March or approach/leave a heavily farmed dolmen in Alik'r. When the client loads an art asset like armor, it has to process it before displaying it. Every player can have over a dozen customized items that must be processed on each client before they can be displayed.

This manifests itself as client stutter. It can be felt in Cyrodiil every time there's a large number of players in one area which happens a lot.

With that said, not everyone is affected equally some people are more sensitive to different kinds of lag and it will be felt more by older hardware.

This isn't _the_ issue that's plagued Cyrodiil for 6 years. That issue is server processing lag.

Hi Zyk, you are correct, I went down a rat-hole explaining regular server side processing Lag, where as the OP is talking about Initial Art loading Lag o:)

I don't think the benefits (a little less lag), out way the negatives (Players not getting to look as they choose for what ever reason).
