I want a chance to do some of the story lines I haven't done in a while or maybe advance some skills on my lesser played characters. Why can't people just play & enjoy the regular game? Are "events" the only reason/time to play?

I'm tired of events as well, but I think the premise of leveling and grinding out characters is a good way to take away from the added stresses of IRL right now. I'd simply appreciate just a simple experience buff while it's going on.
Honestly ZoS could stand to benefit from everything by offering a free trial to ESO+, get these new players involved in DLCs they don't have yet and sell them on it.
I don't see either happening however, so I don't even suggest it.2 -

I admit, bringing the covid in there was a novelty, so, here's three internet points for you.
But this time, I'm willing to keep an benevolent eye, and to compromise. If you really must (ie : you don't) , extend the 100% xp. But stop with the anniverary boxes, please. Please enlighten us how the event is impacting your gameplay negatively. Or is this just an unfounded complaint for the sake of it because you don't want to see other people benefiting from it?
Okay here is a reason. If you have OCD and feel the need to do writs on every chararcter everyday to get all those juicy rewards, it turns into quite a task to manage all the yellow style pages and purple motifs on the guild traders. We need a break!1 -

Because FOMO means I do 6-7 daily crafting on 10 characters in the hope of getting a few pages from the several motifs I missed while on hiatus. I don't then have the time to go do stuff like questing in S Elsweyr.
