[Survey] : Help for my bachelor´s thesis required!

Hey guys! I am currently finishing my bachelor´s thesis in Psychology at the University of Vienna and I still need more participants for my survey. I would much appreciate your participation and feedback. The survey is about player Identity and character/role choice in online video games, it also includes questions on motivation to play online games.
You would do me a huge favor and may even win one of two Amazon vouchers at the end of the questionnaire.
All data is anonymized and a later allocation to your person is made impossible.

Trying to do your survey... In regards to the page ...

I would like you to indicate, for each of the following attributes, to what extent it is part of your MAIN CHARACTER’S personality.

What do I say if I don't consider the character to be anything? It's just a game mechanic to me. Same as a tennis racket would be if I played tennis. Should I set all 1, all 4 or what do I say?

Well, I continued because there was no reply for a while. I picked all 1, but I left a comment at the end when I got there, so you should be able to identify the issue and make a proper adjustment to the data when evaluating...

I think I got it done, but didn't get to any kind of confirmation page so I'm not sure. The next page after asking for comment or to get added to the gift card lottery was blank.

Could you please explain this one: "I would like you to indicate, for each of the following attributes, to what extent it is part of your personality. An example question could read as “I consider myself to be brave”.

I didn't get it fully, is it about my main character having some of my real life traits? What if I make the background for my main character according to game LORE and it is just about him being of some origin or belonging to that or another race, guild etc. I don't even think about his/her personality traits and of course I don't even consider linking them to my own.
What should I chose in this case? Also 4? But for me my character is not "tennis rocket" it is basically a way to live another life If I can put it like this.

Yeah, it does not cover the non-RP option.

Probably the best way to describe it would be that I consider my character to be nothing more than an avatar of myself in the game.
I mostly play PvP, if that helps to make sense of it.

This is a sentiment deeply rooted in the single/multiplayer games of old, where usually there was only a very limited (if any) selection of possible characters - sometimes it was even just a single character model for everyone, only with different colors for each player/team.

Honestly, the hardest part of this was "main character." I don't have one. I have several characters, each with diverse personalities, so... to be honest I just picked one at random...

Don't assume respondents have a "main character."

I responded. I think that the survey is flawed, but I put detailed notes in my response (they echo some of the feedback in this thread).

That's when you're playing a massively multiplayer online mechanic game. With pretty much sand in the engine.

Interesting survey. While it was no problem for me, as others mentioned, some people don't really 'RP' their characters so they might not be able to answer the character personality questions properly.

And the people who do won't tend to have a main character. It kind of defeats the point of role-playing if you aren't creating many characters who are distinct from one another (aka, different personalities).
