So 1 handed and shield does more weapon damage than a 2 handed stam weapon?

No. 2H is best front bar with no options right now. DW, bow and S&B are not even close and worth using only on back bar, mostly carried by 2-piece sets.

Dual wield front bar, and bow back bar is the best dps, and two hander front bar can compete with dual wield on stam sorcerer.

One hand and shield is much lower dps, and usually used only for tanking in pve or making a tanky build in pvp.

If you are doing more damage with mace and shield, something is wrong. Either your skill usage or gear level or maybe skill passives.

220 dps is like drop in bucket it means nothing

now if you meant weapon damage then yes DW has more weapon damage than 2h

That could come from a number of things such as what trait is on each,what level they are. Are they giving a set bonus? Do you have passives that are somehow boosting it?

If they are CP160, the difference between gold and purple is huge. For all other levels of gear, purple and gold are practically identical. But max level gear is an exception and there is a giant boost going from purple to gold.

Also yes, purple to gold on a weapon increases the weapon damage by quite a bit, even more so on nirnhoned. And there's a passive in sword and shield called 'Sword and Board', which increases weapon damage by 5% or something. Just swapped my purple 2hander to a gold nirnhoned 2hander to test(Without major brutallity) And it raised my weapon damage by about 600.

Yes. But damage is about a lot more than that "weapon damage" number on the screen. The skills associated with 2-hander do more damage. The passives associated with 2-hander do more damage. And so on. If you judge how powerful you are based off a single number, you will never get a proper build put together. The "weapon damage" stat is not the amount of damage your weapon does. It is one part of a complicated formula that determines the actual damage you do.

Now, if all you are planning to do is story quests and delves and overland content, you will be fine with 1-hand and shield. It does plenty enough damage to get by in casual content. But if you want to do veteran content and other difficult things, 1-hand and shield will struggle to meet the DPS checks.

ok, thanks. as a warden i am purely using my animal abilities to gain the maximum damage bonuses. so as far as what weapons im using i dont feel it matters to much. one reason i chose a shield to get more resistances.

Ironically, if you are a bash weave god going one hand/shield is only +- 3-4k behind dw.
