Seeking Information on New Moon Priest Motif

@ZOS_GinaBruno

As per the Crown Store Showcase it is coming April 22nd https://www.elderscrollsonline.com/en-us/news/post/57887

I did some Testing and it looks like the Dragonguard Supply Chest can only be opened once per day on an account even if you complete the achievement on multiple characters.

Is this a bug for the Dragonguard Supply Chest?

If this is not a bug, it will take 14 days to earn a complete set, if it is a guaranteed drop, with trading or longer, if RNG is involved. With either guaranteed drop or RNG, it will be unfeasible to collect on the maximum number of 18 characters.

With it being released same day for crown purchase, this just seems like making it unnecessarily hard to acquire via in game means for content which your customers have already purchased.

Is there any possibility the functionality of the Dragonguard Supply Chest will be changed when New Moon Priest Motif releases?
(Math before coffee, except after 3, is not for me)

Just curious: why do you need motif on 18 characters?

Correct, @ganzaeso, it's once per day per account ... as being able to loot it multiple times per day would be OP.

Think about it the same way as you would use the Dark Brotherhood Shadowy Supplier.

On a positive note, you don't have to do any kind of daily to receive the Supply Chest reward ... since you've already done the requisite 30 dailies. You can just walk up and take the contents after the daily reset.

Just FYI for next time: You could have done a simple search in the forums to find this information ...

The alternative is running a dungeon a minimum of 14 times per character, likely much more with rng involved. In theory that could be done faster in terms of day, but it takes much more effort/time when it comes to active involvement

Yeah, I'd much rather pick up 1 piece a day at the Dragonguard Santum, by opening the box, versus doing between 2-10 Senchal "dailies" to get my 1 piece a day (with a very rare chance at a 2nd).

Again, assuming it's "guaranteed" from the box. I thought people tested it on PTS and it was, but I'm not 100% sure.

I'm not saying I need to. 14 x 18 = 252 days which puts collection on 18 characters in an unfeasible/unreasonably long time frame. It is not something I would personally pursue with it designed the way it is. This sort of grind would make more sense for a Style Page than a motif.

I think the only players that would think this being looted multiple times per day as too much would be traders that are trying to keep prices in guild stores high so that only players with millions of gold can acquire it either through crown purchases or guild stores. I am very against crown store purchasing right now as performance in the game has been getting steadily worse; This goes for buying crowns with gold as well.

I did actually test this on Live server to see how it was implemented.

The achievement to be able to collect the chest is surprisingly short to achieve at only 3 - 5 days to complete with proper setup and help.

I did do a search of the forums and the one thread I found did not have a specific enough topic to fit my inquiry and there was sufficient moderator activity to warrant avoiding forum trolls.

If the information is available there are only a few on the forum that can answer my question.

I am opening this chest each day (30+ something days so far) and no motive page or style material so far. Funny thing is that I have 1 Crafting Writ that requires this motive...
Something tells me that maybe it is not "active" yet ? Any one got any motive page from that chest ?

Honest question: do you pursue getting other motifs (Moongrave for example) on all 18 characters? Because the way I see it this is still significantly easier than doing that.

The motif doesn’t release until the 22nd, as mentioned in the Crown Store announcement.

If you don't need it on eighteen characters, why would you care about how long it takes to farm it on eighteen characters?

If you need it to craft gear - craft it on one character.
I'd you need to do a writ - do these writs on one character.
If you need the style - it's account-wide.

Or wait a bit until prices get reasonable.

I believe that if getting this motif would require any considerable effort, nobody would complain about once-per-day-per-account model.

ZOS really should start selling I-want-everything-right-now bundle. With all the motifs, achievements, trophies, skill lines and no-death-hardmode-time-trial-run tokens. One click - and you've completed the game. Congrats.

    P. S. Opening a chest once a day is not a grind

The 1 per day limiter that is put on most motifs behind the scenes is annoying, but eventually lifted to some degree making the motif collectible within a reasonable time frame.

I've tested enough Daily Quest grinds to figure out which ones still have this limit.

Motifs in dungeons increase the replay factor of the content. Even though it may not be easy, it is still more fun.

Finishing a 3 -5 day achievement and simply collecting a box once per day without any other replay of the content adds very little value to the game.

    Greymoor sales.

One of the impediments to people buying Greymoor is not being up to that point in the story. Why bother buying now - when it's more expensive - if you're not even up to that part of the story.

This scheme for the New Moon motif could be designed to encourage players to get at least one character up to that point.

Cos you then don't need to spend any time farming this motif. Just log in every day and get it. Then sell off spares.

    Easy gold.

And one impediment to buying Greymoor removed.

I don't think you're going to get a lot of players agreeing with you, @ganzaeso ... especially the rate at which you're tagging the ZOS leadership in the thread.

There are forum-goers here (including myself) that think the once per day pickup is a refreshing change. Versus the dungeon or trials grind (think Welkynar as an example ... a particularly unruly 14-page grind).

But, I'm starting to get the feeling you're one of those players that has to have the full motif instantly to mark it off an imaginary checklist. Waiting a few days just won't work for you. Especially if the prices remain high at the guild traders. ;)

The purpose of this thread is to get additional information about how New Moon Priest Motif is to be acquired. Whether that information is made available is up to Gina, Brian, or Sarah; Gina is the only one I tagged twice.

Beyond the inquiry, A Topic for this thread could be the Analysis and Discussion of How the New Moon Priest Motif is acquired, possibly extending the discussion to other Motif acquisition systems and how they compare to how the New Moon Priest Motif is acquired.

I will not be made the topic of this thread by baiting questions and remarks using the pronoun "You". Curb any assumptions or presumptions that come to mind about who I am as a player.

I got one of these as a crafting writ today. Why? If the ability to make the item isn't even an option for another couple weeks, why are we getting master crafting writs that require this style?

I done this achievement on a second character, as the description of the achievement is the same. But in matter of fact my 2nd character gets no additional services at 30 quests because the chest wont be open to him after my main has searched it.

I do this ZOS should of added in a tooltip or text so say once per day per account. Saying you should of checked forums, while true, doesn't help people if they are given no indication beforehand to do so ;)

Dragonguard chest should of followed Shadowy Supplier and if you have bought the content, done the content on that char, the rewards of that content should be open to that char. I think anyway.
