Some Questions

Hi everyone ,

First time using this forum however I guess i will be using it much more as of now as i love the game.

I am now level 50 however still realise there is so much i dont know about the game. Here some questions already to start with:

1: lots of people talk about championship points 160 , ..,.., .. , until 810. I know 810 is the soft cap , however is there something special a out the numbers 160, 320 etc ?

2: I am using one character to do my questing with however i see a lot of people having over 4 or 5 characters. I understood that if you start with a new character that you then need to start all your quests from zero again. Besides the fact that you can try out more characters , is there anything else beneficial of having that many characters in PvE instead of one ?

3: i open a lot of chests with some kind of boobytrap in. Usually my health even goes down a bit and i usually loot a unique museum piece . They seem completely worthless ... . What should i do with them ? Are they usefull Or should i just delete them for having more bagspace?

4: can event tickets be used for something else then what you can buy at the impressario?

5: anyone who likes to PvE questing a lot and want to be friends online in the game for occasional play ?

Thank you all

2: I like the synergy between characters. You can use your bank and storage chests to share items (and gold) between them (except character-bound items). Also useful for events, e.g. handing pies to other characters to complete the achievement quests. And, of course, different characters play differently.

3: museum pieces are for mini-quests like the Orsinium museum. I haven't tried but I expect you can collect them again if you destroy them.

    4: No.

I can't answer all your questions, but CP160 is significant because that's the gear cap. The best equipment in the game has a CP160 level requirement, so once you've reached that point you'll never out level your gear. Which means it's worth putting the effort in to get matching sets, without worrying that it will be useless by the time you've got it all. You might still want to change it sometimes, because you get a set with stats which are better for you, because you change what the character does or because balance changes affect how it works, but that's a lot rarer than levelling up.

As for playing multiple characters the simple answer is it gives you more options. You can have multiple different classes, races and builds available and choose what you feel like playing or what works best, whether that's based on game mechanics (e.g. switching to a healer because your group needs one) or lore (playing Elseweyr on a khajiit first) or just what you feel like doing today.

It can also be helpful when there's multiple different things going on at once. For example when an event like the Jester's Festival is running I don't need to keep going back and forth to get tickets, I can leave one character there to do the quest once a day and carry on playing normally on my others. This event isn't too bad, but it came in really useful in some previous ones where I could leave a character at the bottom of a delve by the boss or in the middle of nowhere in Murkmire without having to run back there each time I logged out.

CP 160 is the gear cap. It's also where all non-DLC vet dungeons are unlocked. Not too sure about 320, but CP 300 is where each CP point stops giving a boost to your max resources (health, stamina, magicka). It's also when all DLC vet content becomes available through the queue and unlocked, provided you have ESO+ or the DLC purchased.
2: I am using one character to do my questing with however i see a lot of people having over 4 or 5 characters. Tanking, healing, being a damage dealer: all requires different gear and different skill setups. On top of that, multiple characters means you get play multiple classes. Some people enjoy necromancers more than sorcerers, some people like dragonknights than necromancer. Each class has it's own feel and what people enjoy tends to be subjective. Some classes and races make for better roles as well. Dragonknights make excellent tanks, though they're just as viable as damage dealers. I've yet to come across a dragonknight healer, but who knows? Maybe someone out there has one and it works rather well.

Not that I'm aware of. That being said, what you can buy with event tickets changes on the event. Every usually has it's own unique rewards you can buy, so you can hoard tickets from one event into the next.
5: anyone who likes to PvE questing a lot and want to be friends online in the game for occasional play ?

I don't really quest anymore; at this point it's mainly dungeons and trials for me, unless it's new story content. Might I suggest looking for a social PvE guild? It might take a few tries to find the right fit, but most things worthwhile usually takes some effort in locating.

You can buy them from other players. One option is to ask your guilds, or ask in zone chat if anyone has any to sell.

Another option is to try to find it on a guild trader, who can be found in most towns and sometimes out in the wilderness too. But finding specific items might be easier said than done, because each guild trader is owned by a player guild and only sells what the members of that guild have given them to sell, at the prices they've set. So there's no consistency between them and unlike NPC merchants their stock is constantly changing.

You can use the website Tamriel Trade Centre to help find items: https://tamrieltradecentre.com/ It searches all the guild traders it's got data for (submitted by players), to show you which traders have the items you're looking for. Problem is it's not updated in real time, so the item might have already sold (or been removed) by the time you get there, but at least it narrows the search to possible results. The alternative is to pick a random location, check the traders there and hope you happen to stumble across one selling what you want and it's not insanely expensive when you do.

Several characters allow you to play several classes. Although a bit diluted nowadays, certain classes are sort of geared towards certain roles more than others.

Maximum level of armour is CP 160, equivalent to the old cap of veteran rank 16. You can keep earning and spending CP up to 810, the current CP cap, but you will never find gear higher than CP 160. Because of this, people usually only start collecting specific great for their build when they reach this level.

No idea what you mean by booby trapped chests, sorry. If it's about museum pieces, as @GenjiraX said they're specific to a zone achievement. Newer zones have you hunting fragments or other objects and give you special rewards for finding all.

Tickets can only be spent at the impresario. Watch out for the 12 ticket cap, if you earn any more than that, they are lost.

If you're looking for people to play with, you may want to say which server/region you play on. There's also a guild finder in-game where you can look for actively recruiting guilds and even filter for language, size, play style, etc.

If it is for the Summerset dead drop chests, there's a quest given by one of the Psijic Mages on Artaeum. He tells you the museum pieces have been stolen, and he wants you to find them and bring them back to the museum. You get the Finder of Lost Relics title when done.

    Wow thanks all.

May e you guys could also help me with my dps ;-)
I am champion level 90 now , however my dps is only around 3500 till 7000 max. Which is very low of what i have understood. I dont understand how people can have dps like 50K + ...

I have seen some youtube videos but still dont get how they can have 10 times more dps than me ....

Is it because at championchip points 810 you give much more damage ?
    I usually do spell , light attack , spell , light attak , ...
And mostly i only really use 2 spells in stead of 5 after each other. However i dont understand why using 5 different spells gives so much more damage then when using the same 2 spells all the time. I did try some attack weaving as well but still dont get above 7K damage.

    Yes : i am terrible at this , ;-)

As a magicka sorcerer i have all my attributes into magicka , and i have the destruction staff and so on. So i guess i am set up correctly , although dps is very low...

    So ...? How can i truly get a 15K + dps easily?

    2 other side questions
    - apparantly you can practice dps Against dummy Enemies . Where or how can i do that?
    - I read a while back that the E in PvE levels up as well when you start to get stronger, which means that you wont be able to killing them so easily when you outrank them. But how does it exactly work ? If i put on really good gear , do monsters then level up to your stats as well ? Whats the purpose of getting better then ;-)
    - Also , if you fight in PvE , then a champion 810 might attack the same monster as a very low character. How does the monster levels then compared to the two ?

When you hit 50/CP 10, the "boost" you were getting as you leveled is gone. And you're going to have fairly painful low DPS until you hit CP 160. At that point, the hostiles are the same level as you are, forever. And by the time you've got to CP 300 you will likely find things are too easy to kill (assuming you have good connection, unlike me....)

When you get to the other DLC zones, some of them have a similar achievement for finding things and turning them in.

Wrothgar has a museum in Orsinium where you can turn in special Orc relics that you'll come across in Wrothgar.

Vvardenfell has a diorama of the island in the library in Vivec City. You collect tomb rubbings around the island, give them to one of the NPCs in the library, and he'll update the diorama with it; each new rubbing adds to the diorama. If you stand in the middle of the diorama and look straight down in third-person view mode, you'll get a bird's-eye view of the diorama and will be able to see where pieces are missing from the diorama, which will tell you which parts of the island you still need to collect tomb rubbings from. Once you've collected all of the rubbings and completed the diorama, the NPC will be able to figure out the location of a lost library-- which you might actually stumble across while exploring, although you won't be able to enter it until the diorama is complete and the NPC reveals the location of the lost library. Then you go to the lost library, gather some books or tablets or relics (I forget), take them back to the NPC, and as a reward you'll get a copy of the diorama that you can put on display in your house.

Clockwork City has a quest that sends you looking for parts of a factotum. One part is lying out in the open in Clockwork City, although it's on a rock so you have to climb up to get it when you notice it (it glows and sparkles). But most of the parts are scattered around in other zones, often in dwarven delves. When you find a part, you take it to one of the NPCs in the Brass Fortress in Clockwork City, and he'll add it to the factotum.

The Gold Coast has a quest that sends you off to other zones to kill "special" NPCs who have been marked by Sithis. I haven't completed this one, either, but IIRC the target NPCs are identified by the fact that their eyes are not matching colors-- that is, their left eye is a different color than their right eye. As you kill each one, their figure will appear on a pedestal back in the Dark Brotherhood Sanctuary in the Gold Coast.

Hews Bane has a quest that sends you off to other zones to steal special loot. If you've been stealing stuff in ESO, you'll have noticed that loot comes in different colors or qualities just like gear does-- white, green, blue, purple, and gold. The gold loot can't be fenced or laundered the way regular loot can, but is the special loot that you must take to the Thieves Guild in Hews Bane. There are some tables, display cases, shelves, etc., where you leave this special gold loot. Their positions aren't clearly marked or obvious, so you must walk around the room and face in different directions; when you see a prompt come up for the piece of loot you're carrying, you can put it down and it will be placed in its proper spot.

Northern Elsweyr has a mural whose pieces are scattered about the zone, and you must collect them, take them to one of the NPCs in Riverhold, and she'll add it to the mural.

Southern Elsweyr has a tapestry whose pieces are scattered about the zone. As you collect them, you take them to one of the NPCs in Senchal.

Murkmire has a calendar stone whose emblems, or tablets, are scattered about the zone. As you collect them, you take them to one of the NPCs at the Xinchei-Konu Monument in Murkmire.

When you say "boost," I'm not certain which boost you mean. Unless I'm mistaken, the boost that lets you gain XP faster will definitely continue once you get to Level 50 and start earning CP. I'm pretty sure I still see that come up on my main, who is getting closer to CP 1000 every day.

I'm talking about the "boost" you get that sets you out against hostile mobs at CP160 from level 1 to around 20, and then gets less and less until you hit 50/CP 10. At which point, even though I knew about it, I had a REALLY hard time managing because of my high ping (not to mention that I just didn't really "know" the game well at that point). That first 50 for me, I actually got her to CP 160 mostly on master writs....

But yes, your ESO+ XP and any scrolls or Psijiic Ambrosia etc. still work forever I guess.

You want to use more than 2 skills because some of them will be "buffs" (they add to your own damage) or "debuffs" (they reduce enemy defenses, increasing your damage), and more importantly, some skills deal damage over time (known as DoT). You can cast a DoT skill and leave it to damage your enemy as you turn to your light attack + spammable rotation (spammable varies from build to build, it's usually a low cost, high damage skill that you can use often without running out of resources).

The total damage depends on your rotation, but also in your CP and your gear. CP-wise, while they're supposed to give diminishing returns, a CP810 player is still quite a bit more powerful than a CP160. As far as gear goes, you want to use sets that complement your play style/rotation. Some will increase your magicka and therefore base damage; some boost your critical chance or damage; others "proc" (i.e. grant some effect) on certain conditions.

Damage dealers often use a monster set from the undaunted group dungeons (head and shoulders) and two 5-piece sets, which may drop in trials, dungeons or overland zones, or be crafted by other players. But seeing as you're not CP160 yet I wouldn't worry too much about gear just yet.

Your question about the boobytrapped chests... Is this in Summerset? If you're just stumbling across these, you're doing a pretty thorough job of exploring because they are meant to be hidden and hard to find.

Have you gotten to the point in the Summerset quest line where you go over to Artaeum and meet the Psijics? Once you get to Artaeum, there's a museum there that's looking for these museum pieces. It's called the Vault of Moawita and there are 20 museum pieces in this quest line. The quest is called Relics of Summerset. You can look it up (Google) and find maps of where all the museum pieces are. You get an achievement and a reward for finishing the quest and bringing all 20 pieces back to the museum.

There are Also (different) quests to find museum pieces in Elsweyr, Wrothgar, Vvardenfell, and Murkmire (if there are others I'm forgetting them). I think only the Summerset ones are booby-trapped though.

Someone said above that you can board event tickets from one event to the next. When an event ends your event tickets do not disappear; that's true. But you can't really "hoard" them. You can only carry 12 event tickets at a time. If you have 12 tickets in your currency and do the daily quest to earn more, you lose the tickets you would have earned because you're carrying the max possible number of tickets. Keep an eye on how many tickets you have and don't try to carry more than 12. Use them.
