Snipe/Long range attack--->Enemies run away -.- (PVE ONLY)

So many of you have propably encountered this.. When you snipe an enemy and expect to have battle... You get couple of hits with whatever abilities and then the enemy turns away and flees back to where he/she was without any damage or worry in the world while i am left there scratching my head like "Is this some twisted humour of Sheogorath??".

I mean snipe, Focused aim especially.. The added range makes the added range a moot, if it has no other use than troll some npc who trolls you right back.. Not to mention if you want to properly back off while launchiung arrows.. Not gonna work.

They need to fix this.. I mean enemies follow you half way across Tamriel if you just ride past them, but they dont do battle if ypou shoot an arrow at them O.O... Yes.. They do follow you across the map, but turn around if you try to fight them, but this is actually somewhat funny at times.. Scared litle milkdrinkers! XD

But if you shoot or damage an enemy, they need to follow through with encaging you in battle, not run away. Its quite irritating to roleplay a sniping kind of character if the enemies dont play along..

    All NPCs have an AI radius, if you interact with the outside that radius they reset.

    It gives me great pleasure that someone who spams snipe is not enjoying his experience. It really does.
    Snipe is for plebs, use something else.

    Edit: Just realised this thread might of been for PvE. LOL sorry, if this thread was indeed about PvE then please disregard my post. My point still stands when it comes to PvP though

    More like a "extend tether" thread, tho I doubt we'll ever see that happening...

    I myself dislike it more that melee mobs reset if you snipe them from a place they just cannot get to without jumping. because for some reason, the pathing system doesn't know "jump" works. But I guess... its needed otherwise people would exploit this and solo worldbosses and stuff rom some "unassailable" positing nearby without any skill needed... (its okay if they manage to solo them in a fair-ish fight after all)

    This is nota a buff X ability or attack. All attacks and abilities are fine as far as im concerned.

    The AI radius (ORAB, Artificial dubness) is interesting subject. It allows NPC's to follow your horse half way across Tamriel, but does not allow combat with them.. Exept in rare occasions.

    The AI radius should not consist of "Where tyhe enemy got first hit" but should be "AI radius always calculates from the enemy curret position". This would only be logical.

    As for right now, if i start with lethal arrow for example and enemy starts running at me while i continue with attacks allowed on range like heavy attack, Venom skull ATC.. The AI radius calculation point seems to stick on the first hit position, thus making the enemy turn away and reset when he gets to the end of his AI radius. Naturally there should be maximum follow distance for enemies, but that cant be the AI radius and it seem sit is not because the follow disrtance is much greater than thee attack radius of an NPC.

    In any case, with ranged weapon, i shpould be able to back off while attacking an enemy with my abilities and attack and the enemy should not reset.

    I have experienced the same. Just PvE Overland so at times I like to throw out some snipes. They run towards me as they are closing in they decide to run away. Obviously the distance. So now I just start moving towards them when I do it.

    I think the mobs reset just over 42-45meters, sat at focus aimed max range (40) and while mobs are scripted, it can act at random and tagged an bandit archer who ran backwards (think they run maybe 10meters away) to fire their conal shot and it reset.

    So. Depending on certain mobs and dance/kiting about you do might unintentionally reset them when certain abilities are used in their scripted kit.

    This is natural conclusion of what happens. I think the reset range should be greater.. Maybe even double. Some would say, that this could provide some opportunities to exploit, but whoever thought that NPC mobs should get to hit you, if you re ranged combatant. Im often also quite annoyed, that most ranged classes i jhave are forced to use their ranged weapon at melee range, because there are no proper CC abilities in most classes.. Weapons do have some of that, but as spellcaster id rather use spells that "Spell-like" weapon abilities that are not really spells.

    Because one of my recurring TES characters have always been arcane snipers that can keep distance, id like to be able to do this in ESO as well. Maybe better AI for the enemies in general, so their stealth detection requires line of sight for example.. Right now they have that "Third eye" that magically tells them where i am no atter what i do. Hmm... Thats not eally a subject here anyways, sorry :D

    My only issue and my #1 cause of death as a new player is running back out of a delve all the enemies give chase and I can’t go through the exit until they have been dealt with. They will stay locked on to me and deliver damage until I engage them. Not so bad when it’s 6-7 but I’ve turned around to find like 15 or more several times. My lv35 warden is not equipped for that!

    Yes, and they will chase you longer than their reset range so they will attack you but as soon as they take damage they will run away. Enemies with ranged attacks might even attack you until taking damage.
    This is annoying.
    Solution if you push trough like getting skyshard in delves is to drop an AOE before stopping this will cause enemies chasing you to reset and do damage to ranged units who has not reached the reset limit.
    And don't use snipe in PvE outside of pulling trash away from bosses in hard dungeons.
    its very effective in PvP however especial sieges and other setting there you have to fight ranged.
    Grinding just make you go in circles.
    Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.
