New Player looking to get into Vet Trials

I'm somewhat new to the game and wanted to get into vet trials (MoL and SS specifically) to unlock cool skins. Unfortunately, I have 280 cp and I jump around between playing with my magsorc, templar (healer) and my stamcro, who are all undergeared (purple only). I am not apart of any raiding guilds either because I cant seem to find any.

What do you advise a new-ish player to do in this situation? I'm not sure which character I should focus on because they're all fun. What character would I have the most success with? Should I grind out more CP pts because I'm too low? Are there pre-trial gear sets I should look out for in vet dungeons/guild stores? Start a pug in Craglorn? Any serious advice is extremely appreciated.

    Hey dude,

It’s likely to be a long, fun journey, but you know where you want to go and it will be really satisfying to get there. Just don’t expect it to happen in a week or even a month.

Play the character you enjoy the most. Vet trials can be done on any character class/race combination. Get to really know your character and the trials you want to do later. Doing this will raise your CP without you feeling like you have to grind. You can even play more than 1 character given CP experience is shared.

280CP is still probably too low for vet trials but not for normal ones.

Do lots of normal trials. Do the easier Craglorn ones (AA, HRC and SO) and Cloudrest on normal as a start. Get used to the mechanics of them and the general pace of a trial. Ask players in successful trials about guilds. Because it will help you a lot to find a good one.

Find sets that work with your characters/gameplay. Purple is definitely good enough for all the normal trials (although amazingly enough it won’t compensate for poor skills or inability to manage mechanics). Don’t be afraid to experiment.

Find a guild that does regular trials training runs. On normal. Do these, meet other players in the same situation as you and work with them. Much more fun and a far easier way into vet trials than either pugging them or trying to join an existing vet trials group.

Above all, take it easy and have fun, because it will be a challenge.

    Hi,

    1) Trial gear is not mandatory to go into trials. You have the level to get your endgame setup. Farm the sets you need, purple armor should be enough, gold out the weapons.

    2) MoL and SS are not easy trials, especially on vet. You can easily join random groups to run normal version of every trial, that should be some good training.

    3) Your best bet to complete vMoL and vSS is either join a trial-dedicated guild or ask for carry. Both you can find in forums.

    Good luck.

Your CP is the biggest barrier of doing any veteran trials. Even when you pug, one look at your CP and you'll get kicked. For many players it takes months to get into veteran raiding. You should start with getting at least 600+ CP and understanding your rotation in such a way that you can pull good numbers. 60k+ on the trial dummy is not dificult to do and you should first aim for that if you're serious about getting "cool skins".

Also, join a guild that runs trials.

I'd search through guilds that are into progression and join up. Then you can begin building from there, slowing working on gear changes and upgrades and gaining CP as you play more.

I would pick one class and role you enjoy the most and dive into that. You'll probably accelerate your skill faster that way and once you get things down in a trial it can be easier to swap into different characters after that.

I would also avoid the approach of "I mainly want to do this trial or that trial." A trial guild runs trials. Usually all trials. Though often the newest one or the ones with gear players need the most get priority. But as a player in a trial guild I can tell you we've never liked running into the guys that want to join to clear one particular trial for a skin or some gear and then vanish.

Just open guild finder, try every guild, if guild can't even clear vmol/vss, move on.
If the guild can clear vmol/vss, try meet the req to get into these runs.
Generally, it is easier to meet req as a healer for a low cp player.
