What ESO sells is the idea of what you could do. Think about the skills. Think about the cool gear. Think about that good looking outfit to match your character theme. You know basic MMO stuff. So you get the skills, the gear and the outfit. Problem is, you see, I play primarily no-CP Cyrodiil PvP. So when I go and actually play with that new exciting build the actual gameplay of it is garbage. Most of the time skills are not going off, the cast is delayed to the point where the action is no longer impactful at all, random FPS drops still etc. First I get angry. Decided not to post while angry. So now I'm just sad. This is so sad. This game could be so cool but it's just not.

    Right there with ya.

The problem people dont understand who claim everything is just fine, is that we really really want to love this game. We don't complain because we hate the game and want to see it fail...we are complaining for the opposite reasons. We want it to be the best it possibly can be.
Right now, it's just not if you're doing more than housing and overland content.

Yup, exactly how I feel... Just sad, that I love this game and not seeing any effort to fix it. Perhaps I'm wrong, perhaps ZOS are on high alert.
We wouldn't know because they haven't released any sort of statement to say they recognise how serious it is. What resources are dedicated to it, what they are trying etc...

It probably won’t help you feel better about ESO but this game did used to deliver on all of those categories. In terms of gameplay and performance, it has deteriorated very badly over the years.

That old gameplay which looked better, felt funner, and ran significantly smoother is never coming back.

With that said we have got a lot of awesome quest content and cosmetics via the Crown Store. Easiest way to think of it is that the target audience no longer includes PvP or Endgame PvE.

PVP is a beautiful mess, because when it works its incredible but it so rarely works.

I think you just have to lower your expectations.
I just never expect to be able to fight properly, most of the time I am just trying to avoid fighting moving my group around to PvDoor as much as possible. But when there is a fight I spend the whole time planing where I need to die so I can be rezed safely, getting siege and camps in good position.

What people fail to realize is that years ago, there weren't many data heavy particle effects in the game. But as time goes on, they introduced more and more shiny, sparkly, glowy, and otherwise animated armor, pets, mounts, furnishings... what have you. Now, everybody has access to a herd of luminous Indriks, to start with. These things all add unnecessary server load, and lag and gameplay desyncs and disconnects are the result.

There's no way you will ever get them to revoke this stuff, and you can bet they will not stop churning it out as long as people are willing to pay for or grind for it.

Sorry dude. I totally get where you are coming from, but you’re wrong when you’re saying that the game only works for housing and overland.

First, it’s working fine for vet trials and dungeons. Odd problems like a couple of players DCing in trials, but that may not be entirely the game. The vet dungeons all ran perfectly.

Second, the only significant area I’ve found issues with is Southern Elsweyr. Here overland is slow and performance is poor (long loading screens, players appearing as black silhouettes, quest givers not appearing or being active for ages etc) as a bunch of players seek out the very hard to get Shield of Senchal motifs.

Good luck, stay safe and have fun

You play PVP and that is the problem PVP is horrible from my experience and IMO if it was removed from the game it would greatly improve the rest of the game performance. What makes PVP the problem is the maps and having so players at once using abilities, etc.. greatly impacting the server and the player experience.

I don't think this is it. I'm like 85% sure things like particle effects are handled by the client not the server.

It makes us all sad that their business model has derailed.
    - More content
    - More crownstore
    - Ignoring very old issues in the game

We want a playable game not virtual goodies, because the day the game goes offline all your 'virtual goodies' are gone too, remember this...a game is to be playable and enjoyable foremost.

From what I understand that should only load your client, not the server. But yes it should affect FPS which has been an issue, but I feel like has gotten better. Memory leak is still there for me. The lag is still bad...
Maybe there should be more campaigns of the sames rule set. Other than that zos most likely needs to update its hardware.

I don't think adding additional noCP campaigns would be a solution as you would run into problems with finding fights in the huge map that Cyrodiil is. Although I don't know why people play with CP enabled and think noCP feels better. If more people would play noCP then they could add additional campaigns. It's more like they should be able to maintain playability for the current population. Problem is that the performance drop is outside of the hotspots too so you could be fighting a guard alone in Zimbabwe and you would have to keep guessing if your skills go off now, 1 second later or if at all.

EDIT: So yeah I think hardware upgrades and/or optimization of communication between the server and the clients.

What makes PVE the problem is the amount of maps and server resource allocation away from Cyrodiil etc.. greatly impacting the server and the player experience.

You see it goes both ways? Removing PvP means removing me and anyone else who plays the game to PvP.

At least the stutter issue is gone after today's patch and I can play fluently again. And this wasn't even mentioned in the patch notes. But ok, this was ok after patch 25 anyway, just messed up with the first "fix" - but at least that is solved for now. I hope they won't break it again with the next patch.

While those things certainly contribute to the performance issues, they have no effect at all when everyone in my game is a black silhouette and the grass, skill effects, half the trees/rocks, etc all fail to load..... this is the result of the game being an absolute mess.

I have old console vids where I’m partaking in a large PvP fight with easily around 100 players involved, all those Ults going off, back when there were significantly more particles because we could all player casted effects (none of it was hidden). And the FPS was far more stable, the game looked and ran smooth, everything loaded normally, and the only thing was that there was still input lag in those major fights. Also way less people disconnecting or crashing/bluescreening.

And before those times, back before ESO even came to console, you’d get 200+ players battling, far higher campaign population caps, and smoother gameplay although I didn’t play at that time so won’t comment much on it.

So basically, we can all thank cheaters who abused the hell out of the game for today's performance.
Wouldn't have needed to move so much server side if players didn't have to be such *** and think swinging their e-peen around was the most important thing.

That doesn't let Zos off the hook at all. Don't get me wrong. They are unwilling or unable to fix anything it seems.
But let's be honest and stop downplaying what our playerbase has done to push this issue as well. A few bad apples spoil the bunch, as the saying goes. So, thank you to all the cheaters who in the past caused a massive move from client to server calculations.

Not necessarily. It’s true that some stuff had to be moved server side because trusting the client is risky. However that is only a fraction of performance reduction we’ve seen ever since console launch.

What we have currently from ESO (as far as I’m aware) is a massively disorganized, unfixable coding nightmare that is a result of many years of code, often bad code, being jumbled together. Also it would be foolish to assume ESO will ever go back to how it was unless a full rollback to a previous patch happened.... idk if that’s possible either.

No, you're pretty much wrong on all points. If you remove PvP, ZOS will lose maybe 10-15% of the player base, (probably not even that many.) If ZOS removes PvE, they lose all of the player base.

Yes ESO has a lot of problems, anyone can see that. But if you're playing on a good PC and using an ethernet land line, (not WiFi), the performance is livable for the most part. (Note, I didn't say great, just livable.)

No, I'm not. The principle is the same. It just dismisses the player base of a certain activity. Good PC and internet connection has nothing to do with this. The performance is not livable. You can't do anything properly. Most of the time you're guessing if your skills are being delayed or if they go off at all. You can't combo anything with that kind of gameplay. The gameplay shouldn't be about guessing if your heal goes off or not. The health pools in this game are very spiky. It's supposed to be action combat. It's great if you haven't had to experience this, but I and many have. Absolutely preposterous to claim anything else.

ESO Has so much potential, Yet its all wasted, The company invest a load in these beautiful new zones, new content, With new mobs, monsters, mechanics art and scenery. Yet there is no incentive to actually go and do them because of the ridiculous outdated CP system that makes doing any content pointless and unrewarding - Classes all feel the same and the game lags harder than any other MMO i've played.
