MMR reset

Can someone explain me why, after the supposed MMR reset, most of the times I keep fighting against the same people that I fought during last patch before the reset? Is it the community playing battlegrounds so small that you are going to fight against the same people over and over and over regardless of your MMR? PC-EU.
