Increase the Character Slots

ZOS if there was ever a time to do something that has been constantly requested now is that time!
Please consider giving an increase to character slot limit, right now its set at 18 increase it to at least 20.
I for one would love to finally level a new character, while I have the time to do so.

Im at all 18 at CP already too.

Would be cool to have a toon or two to keep me busy with all this free time on my hands.

When asked about housing limits, Lambert basically said "now is not the time to do that". The reason is that they are trying not to add stuff that will make performance tuning harder.

My guess is that this will be the same. They are planning to archive unused accounts (and the account characters) in a future update. They will not entertain the thought of additional character slots until that is done.

I for one would like to see at least one optional character slot (I would spend crowns on this!) come with every expansion, just so I can take a peek at the new tutorial without having to delete one of my old characters...

Pro Tip: if you have a playstyle that requires more than 18 characters buy another account.

How do you guys find time for that many characters? Of course I’m still a noob just starting out but I can see myself playing max 4-5 characters. Are they experimental for different play style or only using to grind mats/gold?

Storage. Alts are the game's primary means of storage. Look at how many sets are in the game.

Personally I just don't bother but ZO's intention with end-game is for players to grind away at dungeons, trials etc. to collect as many of the better sets as they can. Which take up a lot of inventory.

And yes, grinding for gold via writs, dailies etc.

Race is an issue. ZO nerf and buff racial passives. If you're one of those players who engages in end-game competitive content - I don't - you might want your favourite class in several races so you can survive whatever ZO throw at you next without having to blow $$$$ on race and name changes.

Class is also potentially an issue in the same way. For players who care less about theme and playstyle and more about WINNING, they might switch classes when ZO nerfs and buffs those. You can't even throw $$$$ at them to change classes so alts are your only option.

Some people might actually play alts too. If you're a mag player it's the only way to get access to nearly all of the game's magic.

I used to think this way as well but once you get established it's very easy and fast to level up new alts.

You'll likely have a big stash of XP scrolls, good self-crafting options for Training gear, and a large cache of ingredients (and/or gold) for Ambrosias for additional XP. Plus, you'll know the best grinding techniques and methods to efficiently level up the guild skill lines. Then factor in being in guilds have having ready access to people who will level alts with you. Oh, and can't forget about the double XP events!

All in all, you can level an alt in anywhere from a couple of days (double XP event) to a week just playing the game casually. Some people here can do it in a few hours by grinding Master Writs but that's something I've never tried.

The benefits of having numerous alts is that it renders nearly ALL of the gear that you find useful since you can apply it to a nifty concept-build. I would never want to have all my alts following meta builds (GROSS!) because grinding for identical sets over and over again would drive me insane. But with alts you can have that cool PvP Frost Tank Warden or bleed-specialist stamCro, etc.

TLDR; It really livens up the game knowing that basically whatever dungeon that you're in can provide something useful to one of your alts!

Most people who have that many characters just like making different characters for fun, either for role play reasons or just because it's fun to try a new play style.

People have various reasons for extra chars eg RP, "ZOS proofing", trying something out etc. Slightly off topic but honestly and credit to ZOS, leveling in ESO is easy ...

100% event buff (e.g. Jesters starting this Thursday) + XP scrolls (50-150%) + training trait. Grind spot of your choice. Assists help. Can level in 5 hours with this. The hard part is finding a grind spot that other people don't spoil (for me, they're akin to fake tanks etc). If you can get a carry, consider Catacombs.

I knew someone that made 50 in 1 day at the weekend by doing the Alikr dolmens (slow but easy method).

Master writs are the quickest but most expensive.

Now have 18 chars on this acct alone. Wish list for ZOS make more things acct wide like they do with CP to make all the chars more playable instead of having to grind again eg Undaunted.

I expect a character slot increase with the launch of the Greymoor chapter. One with the chapter, two in the Crown Store.

I kind of rotate through characters. I have 18 fully leveled and mostly outfitted characters and do play all of them. I have three or four that I play often and the others might not see any action for a few months at a time. When I start feeling like the game is getting stale or grindy then I switch to a character I haven't played for a while and run with them for a few days.

I'm lucky that I enjoy most of what the game offers so if PvP gets uninspiring for me I can switch and do something else. I have one character that I am taking through all the quests and story lines in the same order my first character did. Been a long time since I've done some of the quests so I am enjoying it. I wouldn't want to concentrate on just that for more than a few hours but it is a good way to keep the game interesting and fun.

Basically my characters are different enough I can switch characters and the way the game plays for me changes. Lately I have been having fun on a Necromancer tank. Not sure I will be able to do vet DLC content with this tank but still fun to play.

I think you will be disappointed. There's no reason for additional character slots with this chapter. There won't be a new class this time.

Now is the perfect time to start on the other regional server, or open a new account.

A more optimal time would be to wait just a bit and increase slots with the release of Greymoor, when people might want to play the new tutorial and start a fresh toon to do that content with an inexperienced toon.
I really don't think the quarantine will be over before Q3.
