Trading addons - do they still work?

I've been on hiatus for a while, and haven't used trading add-ons. I stopped right about the time when they reduces the length of guild history.

My question is: are trading addons (MM, ATT, and so on) still useful? Or have they been gimped to irrelevance due to the missing guild history?

Yes, they are still useful, because guild history is visible to 10 days again and add-ons can store that data over time. (You cannot access any data from the server beyond the 10 days if you missed it, but by updating at least once every 10 days you will acquire more and more data and be able to show, say, 30 days or more of your locally stored history.)

The caveat is that add-ons have been restricted from auto-updating as quickly as they used to and have been even more restricted from doing so around the time of trader flip. You can manually update them more quickly by going to your guild sales history and pressing E for Show More. (Do not hit Show More more than once per second, otherwise you risk being booted for spam.) But you can also just let them run and update themselves over time. A 10-day scan could take quite a while if left to the add-on, but for updating in intervals of less than 24 hours mine usually fetches its own data within 5-10 minutes. If I get impatient or want to switch toons, I’ll manually update it with Show More before I log out.

    I use ttc,mm,and att.

I update TTC for listed sales, and update pricetables from the website, since exe is not always updating it expecially if you swap servers. It's good for seeing list pricing especially during events. Also, never use min/max/avg as a guide, since ppl try to skew data, only use suggested, since it removes outliers and is pretty good guage.

I use ATT as my actual guild sales addon, since it works out the box without having to do anything. It is pretty much same as MM,jsut some things are different like no sales tax show in roster, and no level/quality slider.

MM don't play nice swaping servers, and you gotta do alot of runaround to get it to work right, until they mess with guild history again.I do have it enabled only for the level/quality slider really.

They do work, but you have to open guild history manually then do a refresh. At least that's the case for MM. Sometimes after you open the guild history you have to do a reloadui to make it scan reliably. Normally it takes me 2-3 minutes to scan a whole day history for my 4 trading guilds. For the full 10 days, closer to half an hour, but I rarely need to do that.

Thanks for the feeback, guys! I managed to get ATT and TTC working. MM, it's not yet been a success, but I'll try again.
Glad to see they still work, I didn't knew this was the case!

ATT does pretty much the same thing as MM, but less detailed. If you're not a hardcore trader, stick to that.

MM is really only effective if you are in multiple trading guilds that are active...otherwise the sample pool is pretty limited.

TTC doesn't let you know what things are actually selling for, but gives you a better idea of the range things are listing at and has a much larger sample pool.

I try to use both, but TTC is more useful to me as I'm not always an active trader so often only have a single trade guild.
