Terrible ping in EU prime time - German servers at fault

Why is that the closer to the ESO servers the worse my ping gets? (PS4 EU)

Germany has terrible servers. Look at the penultimate one, the source of the high ping. Someone needs to look into it. Whoever is connecting though this route will have high latency.

After weeks of back and forth with eso support sending multiple tracing results they "carefully inspected" the data and concluded that have no advice but to check antivirus, clean boot or move router, lol. Comical situation as it's always last german hops that give 100ms+ or packet loss and never anything before that.

I've already had to take a forced break because of this rubbish connection. It's been going on almost two weeks now, just because one of the servers has some routing problems. Who knows how long it's going to last. But ZOS should check their server centres.

New to the EU server. first character and so forth. Yesterday my ping hit 3800. I am not in Europe.

Here are my trace and ping rates.
It amazes me that the indicators are completely different between the game here. Recently, my ping in Cyrodiil is not lower than 300+ , in other location 150+.
I contacted my provider, they checked what the problem was and said that it was from the side of the game server.
They obviously should check their servers.

Problems began after the last update, it became generally impossible to play.
Skills do not work, delays and crashes.

Frankfurt node increased has 70% more load since Corona breakout (biggest node in world). Netflix is reducing streaming quality by 25% already...

But my Ping from Germany is good. In most games <10ms. Try VPN to force different route.

@GrimClaw I don't think you can use vpn on the console.

@SmokeHappiness That's your traceroute at 1 am? Have you tried doing it between 8 and 9 pm? I believe you'll see values over 100.

You're also connecting through a similar route on the penultimate node.

These IPs starting with 217.5.* are what is causing major problems. My friend yesterday had lag in a trial and had to drop out. I asked him to do a traceroute from his router and the problematic IP for him was 217.5.116.190

@SmokeHappiness OK, RIP then. I'm still waiting for @ZOS_BillE to give me the IP to the playstation servers but I would assume my traceroute would have been quite similar. I wish ZOS could intervene in what happens in the traffic on the way to their own servers.

It's not even the German servers, it's ESO abysmal hardware. I can connect to any other server on Germany and be fine. But this game? Nope

It's not even the German servers, it's ESO abysmal hardware. I can connect to any other server on Germany and be fine. But this game? Nope

Clearly, there's one server that causes all the lag problems. I hope someone from Zeni will look into it because it affects everyone who has the misfortune of connecting though that.

i have same problems last few weeks. it looks like german net is overloaded or its bandwidth is limited for foreigners because ping drops down to its normal value late at night

i tried free vpn with german servers so for eso i was like a native german and my ping was low but packet loss was unacceptable. i think eso in its current state doesnt worth of an additional payment for a fast vpn
