Event Announcer?

What if there was an NPC in key areas of towns that would announce current and upcoming events? Because I always seem to miss them lol

i.e. Summerset can get a High Elf Announcer that posts up near the wayshrine. A message bubble pops up over his head when he shouts an announcement, and he can have simple voice lines "have you heard whats happening in [region]?" or "Prepare for [upcming event] you won't want to miss out!"

Maybe he even approaches you the first time you log in every day, or just walks around towns in general shouting announcements.

If you talk to him, it would open up a "merchant" window with all current/upcoming event details.

He can even pass out fliers during special events with details, an immersive approach to announcements and events.

    Unessecary. Completely.
Also, it is easier to read articles and news on Eso web page than in the in-game conversation or book format

It's not about necessity, its about adding an experience. You might not care, thats fine. But plenty of us appreciate the small immersive details, and this is a Role Playing Game...

Also consider the amount of people who don't use these other means of communication? People who just log in and thats that. It would benefit everyone to have an in-game events announcement or a way to check events in game, however its implemented (lots of games have an opening page with ongoing and upcoming events).

Besides, I don't mind the in game book format, that is literally what I am trying to add lol. Just slap a fancy font and a "sketch" filter on any images they want to include.

Yes! A small podium for him to stand on and NPC's can gather when he is announcing.

    As a console player... lol

Bear in mind, not everyone wants to go through that extra step anyways... Its in everyone's best interest to promote in-game events... In. Game. That's my point, mainly. Immersion aside, we already have a pop-up window when you log in, but unless I am blind, I don't ever see any events advertised, just the crown store.

I guess the Impresario's Assistant already fills that role to a degree. Personally, I never talk to the guy, except if I click on him accidentally when I'm trying to loot the crate or barrel next to him. But I guess they could reprogram his behavior to make him try to draw people's attention and call out to them as they're passing, the way so many other characters do.

Or they could just add a flyer to one of the bulletin boards or posts around the towns-- or better yet, at or near the Impresario's tent. The text of the flyer could change depending on which event is in progress or coming up next. Reading the flyer could let you choose whether to take a copy or not, similar to how you can pick up a copy of the player housing flyers.

Honestly, I would love to carry around an event flier on my person. Whats 1 inventory slot? You can drop it if you need, just to grab a new one next time you are in town.

Or even just add an option to talk about events with NPC's that usually have no interaction, so its like you are hearing the latest juice from a nosy townie. Maybe guards will shout at you if you are entering an area with an active event: "hey, did you know...[event summary]."

We already have enough annoying quest NPCs who yell at you every time you go near them, I honestly don't think we need a person in-game to do something like this. We all know this game has events and honestly if you can't take a few minutes here and there just to check and see if any events are upcoming...I'm sorry but to me that just seems kind of lazy.

Besides, the login screen will tell you if an event is currently going on, and you have to look at that every time you go to play. If you can't at least give *that* a passing glance before hopping in the game then I dunno what to tell you.

Except that new players don't even know to look there. I missed three events when I started because I was on this amazing learning curve as it was. I just did not know. No idea. Many new players come in and don't have any idea about any of these things.

Just please. Don't. Make. It. Stuga.

Do you know how long this event has been going now!

    I can relate.

I nearly completely missed the Elsweyr one last year. It was half over by the time I read about it. But I'd been logging in daily and playing throughout. Just not the event.

Which actually had me thinking that I might not end being able to get enough tickets to get the white indrik. A huge pain in the arse given I'd been slavishly attentive to ESO and it's BLEEPing incessant non-stop events throughout the whole BLEEPing year.

Thankfully there were just enough tickets from the New Life festival to get me over the line. But it was a close thing and if I had missed out, I'd have been a LOT closer to the point of throwing in the towel.

Website organization can be annoying. And you have to know to look.

Should be an in-game reminder when logging on instead of cosmetic nonsense.

Like I said earlier, the login screen tells you when there's an event happening. Not everyone uses the launcher but everyone *has* to use the login screen. We don't need another annoying NPC yelling at us over other NPCs when there are other ways of checking for events.

Also if you're too impatient to take 3 seconds to get past the age gate of the site, that's just sheer laziness and entirely a you problem.

Has nothing to do with my level of industriousness. It's insulting that I should even have to jump through unnecessary hoops just to see if there's an event going on. They could certainly remember my IP address if they chose to.... cookies are a thing these days. You're welcome to play that game if you like, but I'll pass.

It's always bothered me that I can be logged in to the forums, and click elsewhere on the same website and be challenged to provide identification. Just another of the many unendearing ZOS quirks one must deal with to play in their world.
