Dismounting has gone from bad to worse, Now the only way for me to get off my mount is to use the D pad. What's going on?

Works if you jump first, but you gotta release the forward directional stick/button, well I don't think you have to jump but it keeps your momentum

Nothing worked. I had to restart the game. Dismount is miserable now.

It was changed with the Left Trigger to not work by itself, but I believe they are going to reverse it due to unpopularity (something Gina posted).

If you hold down the left trigger by itself (on Xbox) you will dismount. You used to only need to tap it, but now you need to hold it for a second or two...

What is the point of a change like this? Why change the way the game controls after so many years?

I know on PC rn you cannot dismount with blocking, or block while sprinting. It's a bug, maybe you are experiencing it from them changing the left trigger stuff?

Yes dismounting on game pad doesn't work like it used to. I have to spam my left trigger now to dismount. Both on pc and console.

Unfortunately, sometimes I just have to enter a building to get off the horse. Although, riding a horse indoors would actually be faster sometimes.

I don't know if it's always been like this, but I can talk to my banker and merchants now without dismounting though.

It’s because dismount works if the horse is walking or stopped not sprinting

I like the I'm mounting animation, but my horse hasn't appeared yet.

Don’t fall for it! Stay mounted - or you might get booted from the server for block spam!

It’s like they changed it to a hard trigger press or successful true dodge roll. Maybe they felt people were too easily dismounted with a trigger tap...which I agree was annoying, but after years I was used to it and could have my characters fly through the air and dismount and land at precisely the right spot. Now...they’re derfs

It works until you light attack an npc or guard. Lol. Really just a poor change. Should have a dedicated button/trigger for dismount.

They do. It's the same button as mounting. It just takes like 2 seconds to complete the animation.

At the cost of just doing what I told the game to do we instead get to sit thru the full animation of dismounting. Yay?

What is the point of a change like this? Why change the way the game controls after so many years?

The reason was indirectly connected to the changes in Block Cancel. Alot of threads about this since it was quietly affected rather than directly addressed (per ZOS way often). There's another thread where gina acknowledged this and said they'd revert THIS change after forum outcry...but no reference to revert the animation/block cancel changes-which affected this particular ability. Which means the delayed skill issues and forced animations in rotations will stay. Lag or not:/ Which affects BOTH PvP and PvE when in any fight that isnt a cakewalk and requires fast reactive combat and solid rotations.

As already mentioned, right trigger still works, even when sprinting. That's usually how I dismount. I have attacking innocents off so I don't accidentally attack any NPCs when dismounting.
