New theme music is ... underwhelming.

Perhaps this one's expectations are too high, but he finds the new music to be ... bleh. He wishes he could choose the music he listens to when starting the game.

At the very least, would it be too much to ask that it actually was confined to only the character select screen? When this one changes characters, it does not trigger when entering character select screen, but rather when new character loads into game.

What? This one is finicky about his music.

A way to change theme music is definitely often requested and would be nice. That said, it's not that long until we get the Greymoor chapter theme, so maybe stick it out till then?
Although it is still curious why they put in the old generic music rather than leaving in the Elsweyr theme. My guess is they thought it fit the atmosphere better.

This I do agree with unfortunately. Apart from the revamped intro, the rest is just lifted from the Base Game.
It's a little disappointing, as one of the mysteries when a new DLC launches is what the new music will be like.
Maybe a sign that budgets are being squeezed?

Well. I never realised that. I could have sworn we've had the Elsweyr theme for a year now. My bad.

I also associate it with the full year... but yeah, apparently not. And I do also remember always discovering the new theme when first getting to test the new chapter on the PTS, I think?

Anyway, I think it would be cool if they made some changes to this now that we get whole years themed after the chapters. It makes sense for the atmosphere to be properly set with the first DLC. Maybe for the DLC it's like a small teaser version incorporated into something more generic, and then for the chapter we get the full thing. But I guess that teaser version would also be more work, so idk.

Oh. this one was under the, possibly, erroneous impression that this -was- the greymoon theme. Well, then, here is to hoping for great musical things to come our way, yes?

Well. This one had sort of expected (And was actually somewhat excited for) something with equal majesty and power as the Elsweyr theme, or even the Morrowind version, not some Reader's Digest Exclusive Skyrim Elevator music, yes?

And this one's high expectations, and persnickity attitude when they are not met, are only coincidental with this one's heritage.

Well I'd originally thought it was a new, generic thing or some kind of excerpt, but that was also wrong.The thread is a little too old by now for me to dig it up, but someone correctly identified it as the music of the very old original intro (where the prophet is narrating over something).
So yeah, still very excited and hopeful for Greymoor theme.

Tbh. Each chapter I am always like: "Oh, thanks god, this new music is so much better."

^ Probably only because each time when there is a new "Main theme" music I am sick of the last one. After 1 year, when there is a new chapter, I will probably say the same about this year "Main theme"...

btw. If I were to choose one, nothing can beat the old, classic music that played during One Tamriel update

I love it. I got sick of having to turn the volume down on my tv every time that ridiculous, bombastic Khajiit theme played. The new theme is calm and to the point.

Nothing like playing the depressing state of pvp and getting to hear that sad elsweyr theme again after getting blue screened.

I have to agree, the intro music could be better. The first thing I noticed is it appears that there is too much high pass filtering going on, making the song sound too tinny/metallic ...it lacks warmth of mid tones. I understand the creators intention of giving an ethereal feel, but the reverb and high frequencies are actually annoying. Iv'e listened to the opening on my studio monitors, PC speakers, and headset. In all environments prevalence of the high frequencies just overwhelms the song and detracts from the emotive feelings its trying to convey.

Thats because this new theme is no new theme. It is the old intro Theme of ESO, where the ex-emperor tells you "we write the whatever year of the second era, the imperial throne lies empty" starting at 1:10 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MBdGcm8mcGI&t=70s) thats why it sounds so empty as well, dialogue and sound effect of the old intro are missing, it was just a background music there. They literally copied out the backgroundmusic and use it as "theme" now.

I really hope with the Chapter they will get a real new theme, this one feels more like a placeholder, especially because the Elsweyr theme was cutted to early. Normally those Chapterthemes were used till the new chapter comes and not just the first new DLC of a new story.

most of eso music is just long monotone sounds being repeated in a somewhat melodic way.
The problem with this is the melody is so slow that it feels like only monotone sounds.

I often hear a piece of music in eso that reminds me of something else and in my head the melody spins off while the eso music stays monotone and boring in the background.
Really, the guy who does music needs to stop smoking weed and drink some caffeine to live up the place.

ESO MUSIC IS BORING!!!!!

(except ofcourse morrowind by jeremy soule, that's the only part of eso music that's actually good.)
