Can no longer block while sprinting (Xbox)

Is this an intended change with the update?

    There were a lot of changes to 'Block' this patch. I'd recommend reading the patch notes (they were just posted for Xbox about an hour ago) after each release as a good FYI on the documentation.

    That's how it used to work, not after the update. I didn't see anyone mention these changes when the PC update released.

    I noticed this too, same thing goes for getting off your horse on gamepad on PC too. No longer possible with block.

    They seemed to have put some logic-based processing into 'Block' -- before you could basically always block whether you had no stamina or not, but now it doesn't seem to be that case. I did see a lot of uproar the first few days afterwards as people who did a lot of block-canceling where having issues.

    Just to get it right.... before, you could actively sprint and block at the same time? That seems like a bug.

    You can still dismount with blocking as long as you're not sprinting on Xbox at least.

    Same on PC with controller. Blocking while sprinting on foot or on your mount just does nothing until you stop moving.

    While sprint mounted and sprinting the block doesn’t work to dismount or stop you from sprinting

    I don’t recall reading they were making block useless for mounts and sprinting, I know they changed block but to stop dismounting too is a little much, their own tutorial says to use block or attack to dismount, attack still works

    Thinking out loud....

    Blocking and Sprinting are, for a lack of a better phrase, base character skills. Just like with any other skill that channels, you cannot cast another skill while you are channeling...you must stop channeling and then cast the other skill. I would suspect that Blocking now adheres to this in conjunction to Sprinting. Again, just a guess...could be completely barking up the wrong tree.

    Hopefully roll-dodge was left alone though, because the thought of having to stop sprinting to roll dodge sounds horrible.

    Although I never really tried it, I thought you couldn’t sprint while blocking before? Isn’t there even a passive on sword and board that increases movement speed while blocking. It’s been awhile since I looked at that.

    So now if you're sprinting and hit block, you just keep sprinting and don't block? Still at work, haven't tried it yet.

    Your nerf suggestion is dumb. Learn to counter other players instead of having the game rebuilt to your ability level.

    This basically yeah, I used to dismount by using block but now I just keep sprinting until I let go of my analog stick.

    I've been complaining to friends about the recent changes to block since the update dropped on pc (gamepad). Can no longer activate block if sprinting on foot (to stop sprinting and block) or while mounted and sprinting (for dismount). And there's also all the other issues with block like it dropping for no reason (appearing to block but actually not), getting kicked from game for spamming block, etc.

    Block *** sucks now. Sorry to see it made its way to consoles.

    Edit: And since gamepad requires block to be held for break-free, roll-dodge and bash - these mechanics also seem clunkier.

    Yes I was referring to xbox gamepad on pc. It's the same for consoles. LT+RT = break-free / bash, LT+A = roll-dodge. It all feels worse now.

    What the OP meant...you could actively be sprinting and then hit the block button which would make you actively blocking (but reducing your speed). Now if you hit block while actively sprinting, nothing happens.

    No, you could be sprinting, hit block and you'd stop sprinting to block. Now you just keep sprinting if you're still pressing forward on the joystick. Just gonna be a muscle memory change to let go of the joystick I guess. Or roll dodge into block.

    Yea I came here to mention this too. Block used to stop us from sprinting to block, why change it? Also, I've been using block to dismount for years on this game zos...your tutorial taught me that! Why you change that now?

    I've always used block to dismount. Faster than using the summon mount and safer than using attack. Also there was style in using roll-dodge to dismount. Not anymore.

    Hmm. Is this why blocking to dismount when my mount was sprinting to get to an active dolmen earlier felt glitched out? Why would they remove block dismount while sprinting on our mounts? Or just in general? So weird!

    Are you saying that on PC it works with mouse/keyboard but not with a gamepad?
