fury vs new clever alchemist

I consider them similar in that they are both timed damage buffs, but what do people think with the new alchemist buff? im considering switching from fury to clever full time as I find its buff to be more easily controlled (unless potions refuse to go off no matter how much you spam the key) I also like that alchemist is easily back bar'd

Fury:
(2 items) Adds 1206 Maximum Health
(3 items) Adds 1096 Maximum Stamina
(4 items) Adds 129 Weapon Damage
(5 items) When you take damage, your Weapon Damage is increased by 30 for 5 seconds, stacking up to 20 times. This effect can occur once every half second. Upon reaching 20 stacks, the duration is doubled but can no longer be refreshed

clever:
(2 items) Adds 1206 Maximum Health
(3 items) Adds 1206 Maximum Health
(4 items) Adds 129 Weapon Damage, Adds 129 Spell Damage
(5 items) When you drink a potion during combat you feel a rush of energy, increasing your Weapon Damage and Spell Damage by 675 for 20 seconds.

so optimally for fury you need to be in combat for 10 seconds to ramp up to 600 WD for 10 seconds then it resets *50% max stack uptime*, for clever you need to be in combat at all, then its instant 675 for 20 seconds before your waiting on cooldown 42 seconds *10 seconds by the time it ends, ~48% uptime* (*CAN* be augmented by enchants)

I think you answered to your own question

for me when im in combat, it's a lot easier to.... not requiring to remember to drink a pot every other minute.

    Fury just stacks. by itself.

CA u need to pop a pot. and like u mentioned, sometimes lag is an issue too............

Just use fury + clever, most people run new moon front bar with vigor back bar, the meta build doesn't even take advantage of new moons weapon dmg to amplify vigor heals, use clever instead of new moon single bar and your back bar heals will get the full benefit

Yeah this can be easily remedied by just practicing with the set for a couple hours. I agree with you, but I think some would call that a l2p issue lolol =)

oh im not arguing that. definitely a L2P issue, but it is an issue nonetheless.

It is an issue because it introduce an extra step in the process, for the benefit of 75 wep damage and 16% longer uptime.

    Well i'm just a lazy *** so I'm going ez-mode......

It's 100% a L2P issue. I know this because I have a fully golded set of Clever Alchemist in storage. I had it as a front bar set and would hit my potion, without fail, while on my back bar every single time.

    I did not L2P. I switched sets :D:D:D

Your nerf suggestion is dumb. Learn to counter other players instead of having the game rebuilt to your ability level.

Where are u getting a 10 second cooldown? Its 42 seconds before glyphs for potion cooldown. So 22 seconds after the buff ends.

Change it to your back bar set then.

yeah follow up is this has been a great set for me, as I didn't like the ramp up and then 10 sec of fury, alchemist has no ramp up and longer uptime before a longer down time. so its more like a 20 up, 20 down, instant back and forth compared to fury being 10 up 10 down very spikey back and forth.

I run it with NmA (obviously) BS, and potentates SB on my DK, SB bar is buffs and heals with undo for my downtime and positioning, then when its all set I swap to 2h, pop a pot, and go to town for 20 sec before repeating the process. )1 heavy 6 medium, might swap to 2 heavy but honestly its been fine.

has been perfect and fluid and feels great. I much prefer clever over fury as fury is something you have to actively keep track of while clever requires an action on my end that I have control over, and thus allows me to take advantage of enemy mistakes better. also as I tend to buff before engaging I can time my clever being over with my dragon armor going away.

I setup my MagDK with clever alchemist and smugglers, I’m still tweaking my setup but so far I’m using 2x infused potion speed glyphs so my potions have a 30 second cooldown (which mirrors smuggler’s expedition). So far I’m loving it, but I feel it when clever alchemist drops. My thinking is this would let me use wings, and it’s been working well.

I’m tempted to 1 bar CA too, but I’ve been keeping track of when I pot and it’s been both bars. I think 1 barring clever alchemist looks good on paper, but would suck in practice.

This is what I'm playing atm, sorta a mish mash of gear I had lying around but it works okay, but I'm a bit of a magdk noob.
