Definition of Insanity

I have subscribed to this game since April 1, 2014. Always felt that you should support a game that continues to grow. I have rationalized that the game continues to make progress and fixes are made for gameplay issues so it's ok that old gameplay issues are ALWAYs reintroduced when code is changed. Cyrodiil is unplayable at this time. Lag, skills not going off, unbreakable cc's and crashes. All after a patch meant to improve performance. I will not spend another penny on this game until ZOS gets a handle on their quality control. Feels good finally realizing it's insane to expect any better.

My reply to something similar thoughts in another thread. Here are my thoughts.

    The facts:

Most major updates are followed by about 2 weeks of hot fixes. This is normal for any large scale launch on ununified tech. This game runs on everything from high end PC's to laptops I would not use to cruse the web on. People running so many combinations of add ons on top of that. People with up to date drivers and many that don't even know how to. If you could picture the number of moving parts, people would be more forgiving. It's a wonder any MMO works at all.

Funny, even games that seem to have it together, read their tech section of the forums and you will see this is not so uncommon. I laugh when people in game get upset about the lag and I ask them. Do you play via WiFi or do you hard wire with a gigabit cat 6 cable? Do you play the game on a HD, or an SSD? Do you use software that sets your PC into game mode so your PC plays the game most efficiently? Did you buy a cheap HDMI cable for your monitor/video card, or are you using a high end HDMI cable? Most times I get back all the wrong answers. I rarely lag.

Sanity and insanity are just definitions on a sliding scale of comprehension of reality whereas delusion is all in the mind and therefore infinite we need to watch how we judge others by our own delusions of other peoples realities.

not at this level. and this has been going on for years and many of those issues after patches are still here. And when this happens to other companys, they compensate their customers , and not with a useless pet

^^ That describes the vast majority of my game experience. If I'm not playing ESO, which different game am I playing?

Laugh away, I had a friend using drivers for his GPU over a year out of date. Talked to a guy in game yelling in zone chat about the lag, he was torrenting. When asked, I can't count the number of people using WiFi on there gaming PC over a physical connection. Most people I talk to in game have no idea the simple steps they can take to make their gaming experience way better.

And yet many are here saying there performance got better. My load times are miles better. Lag was rare before update 25, I have not suffered any lag since update 25. Only issue I have is Cyrodiil is crashy and I'm sure they will work that out. Major updates with all games have a few weeks of hot fixes to follow.

I don't know of a single person who isn't experiencing the issues with skill delay/input lag, inability to break free, and inability to bar swap.

These issues were not occurring before the Feb 5th console patch and update 25 on PC. It is widespread as you can tell by all the recent forum posts about it.

I'm sure my drivers are just out of date or my TCP/IP settings are messed up though...

To add - For a long time I did not even realize I was using the wifi windows automatically activated instead of the ethernet cable I was paying for. Once I turned off the wifi on the computer, and used the cable everything worked much better.

Why is this even a matter of disbelief - pvp people have serious problems and that is not on their side. In PvE there are some improvements, but once one is entering a high populated zone, there are new problems with stutter and such. Not even outside of pvp it is just better, but some things are just worse than before. This is not a matter of player's hardware -that is on ZOS's side and they need to work on this.

    Here are some other facts:

A large number of players with all the correct answers to those questions are having serious performance issues this patch. And not the little things that take tiny patches to shore up the week following a major update. Some people not having a problem doesn’t mean that there’s not a problem.

Heh I'm IT worker and educated programmer to, I am responsible for things to work 100% of a time and as much as I agree that very often its users fault, not this time. When 1 user has a problem, probably he messed up, when 2 users have the same problem, maybe I messed up, when over half of users have the same problem, definitely they didn't messed up. Say what you want but most of us uses our PCs/consoles to play other more demanding games and we have no issues, somehow only with this one we have this mess.

Good questions, but when my ping to Google servers is stable 25-30ms for the whole session, when my FPS in Witcher 3 set on ultra is stable 70-80 fps I don't think I need to answer your questions. And HDD to SSD switch didn't gave me anything when it goes to this game, I've tested it, to see if it will get better, 3-5s less on a 40s loading screen is nothing.

I know from back in the first year, where I used a "potato"-PC. I rarely kept my drivers updated, but i still had better performance on average than the last year or so and on top of that my PC now is twice as powerful.

This doesn't make any sense according to the logic of the claims, that better hardware equals better performance. It's just ridiculous.

Edit: I never use wireless, because I don't like being eradiated.

Thanks for chiming in some of you. The performance issues in PCNA Cyrodiil following Update 25 and subsequent patch 5.3.5 are not a point of contention, they are fact.

It is insulting and condescending (and wholly trolly) to pronounce that they are a result of player ignorance.

I won't bore you with my setup (11GB 1080TI, I7-8700k, dual 1TB 970 Pro SSDs, 64GB ram, water-cooled, over-priced HDMI cables, GIgabit internet on fiber to the house, ethernet connected), but it (and the build before it) has been good enough to concurrently record 1080p guild videos while playing ESO PVP for many years. And I know about drivers, lol.

The only purpose of my post was to simply state that I won't continue to provide ZOS with revenue from subscribing or crown purchase until a very subjective call that they have fixed PVP. I think if more PVP players did the same, it might get some attention at ZOS.

BTW, I am not denigrating PVE players or commenting on their experience in this game. I didn't venture into Cyrodiil for a few years when this game launched, and enjoyed the Cadwell silver/gold experience on multiple toons.
