I suppose I get where ZOS is coming from in that they want cities to feel populated and taking this away from them wouldn't help matters but I would argue that outside of 2 cities, nobody goes to any of them in great numbers for writs anyway so that argument only works to keep Alinor and Vvardenfell looking populated.
Also, anything that gets me away from the flappy flap infestation in cities that sorcs have created is a huge positive in my book.
Actually, I would like to know why we dont have this features as an option to disable battle music or to put daily bordes and drops on your own house. I mean, who's not bored of having all your toons on Vvanderfell the wholle time.
I dont care if they put the quest board and drops on the cash shop, but just do it.
Also, the option to disable the battle music should be in game since day one.

It's convenience. Outdoors bank right in the middle of everything. 1 min 13 seconds from writ pickup to turn in (mag toon, no speed gear).

Fascination? In crafting writ terms it just has a better layout of crafting stations over Alinor. And Battlemaster Rivyn is nearby so I can also hand in and pick up Battlegrounds quests and que up while crafting.
EDIT: IMHO ofc. Preferences may vary
