The first necromancer and possibly a dungeon about it?

I was just wondering, do we know in ES lore who the "First Necromancer" is? A friend of mine said Mannimarco but I thought he was just the big one of the current era for ESO. My mind then wandered to how cool it might be to do a dungeon along the lines of "The Tomb of the First Necromancer" and what might be inside of it, with a lot of ancient undead/skeleton stuff inside and maybe even some vampiric stuff since it all ties into Molag Bal (atleast I think it does).

Kind of missed the boat on that if they did it. Necro is so 2019. All about vamps/nords in 2020.

Season of the Nordicro Vampire Witch: Starring...

Nicolas Cage, cause, obviously, that's why.

The delve in Arteaum shows you the results of Mannimarco's tested experiments and what he did with Necromancy. He is regarded as the King of Worms for a reason and he becomes the first Lich in Elder Scrolls lore.

I dont think Mannimarco INVENTED necromancy, or at least I have never seen him credited with or or being implied to have invented it. it's possible though.
Playing your character the way your character should play is all that matters. Play as well as you can but never betray the character. Doing so would make playing an mmoRPG pointless.

You say he is the first Lich but the Dragon Priests and Ayleid Lichs who are thousands of years older then him beg to differ.

From the Altmer, we got Mannimarco and Vastarie, his contemporary. There's also Lauriel of the Direnni clan during the 1st era, from the Summerset DLC. Those are featured in the Main quest&Traitor's Vault, the Grahtwood questline, and a delve in Summerset, respectively.

The Ayleids made pacts with the daedra to supply themselves with armies of daedra and undead spirits, and we see some of that Molag Bal worship in the Fighters Guild questline. We also see this is Hectahame in Valenwood.

The Alikr questline features the native Altmer tribe, the Corelanya, reanimating the dead yokudan king in 1E 853. Several Redguard hero's also create the Ansei Wards to prevent reanimation during the 1st era.

The Dragon Priest cult of Skyrim made liberal use of draugr well before Alduin's defeat. You can see them in Skyrim and on Bleakrock Isle.

Finally, from Skyrim there's also Durnehviir, a Dragon necromancer who makes deals with the Ideal masters and Valerica, a powerful vampire necromancer. While there's some debate about exactly when they wound up in the Soul Cairn, I lean towards a 1st Era date, as do the ESO devs.

Correct, he was not the first. OP merely said he thought Manimarco was just a big necromancer and not that he was the first.

To OP, we have dungeons having to do with necromancers already. While I think your idea would be interesting if it could fit into a story it is probably a long shot that we will see necromancy being part of a major story for awhile.

I think Manni was probably the first to nearly prefect the "art form" (still far from perfect) to how he used it easily and how the NPCs and players function.
Using probably so many different varieties (Dragon Priests, Ayleids and even plausible hints of veeskhleel-tzel argonians) to create his own personal method - were others seek bargains (bloodthorn) as well develop their own methods that loosely mimic Manni's (the players.)

There is a contradiction in the lore about Mannimarco and the "First Lich". He is also not the first Necromancer but i would say the most powerful of them.

Many will say he is weak because what happened to him in ESO but this was his younger years and as most of us know, in Daggerfall he becomes the God of Worms, the Necromancer's Moon. Also keep in mind: Mannimarco was defeated only with the combined forces of the five companions not only the character. Also if Molag Bal hadn't intervened he would have just risen again. I think ZOS did give Mannimarco not enough credit and Oblivion also.
    also known as Overlich.

Well he is likely considered to be the most powerful simply because he used to be a Psjiic Monk but there could be an Ayleid or Telvanni Lich or two out there we do not know of that could make him look like an absolute weakling.

Mannimarco most certainly did not invent Necromancy, but you could argue that he popularized it more than anyone else in Tamriel's history.
This Bosmer was tortured to death. There is nothing left to be done.
