I cant decide which build i am supposed to choose

there are literally too much option and i cant decide about which skill i should put on my bar, which weapon i should choose. some people say i should choose all 3 skills at 1 lvl but this doesnt fit my gamestyle. why do i have to pick skills which i dont wanna use? what is the difference between dw and 2h? why cant i rely both on stamina and magicka? why do i have to make every choice myself. why isnt there solid builds which i can follow? i hate this game yet i cant leave without figuring it out

the reason you choose all 3 skills at the start is to level all your skill lines. you can remove or add skills at will any time out of combat, and theres enough skill points in the game to get ALL THE SKILLS, so no need to worry about your build as a new player, since it can always easily be fixed or changed later.

as a new player you should be trying all kinds of things and see what you like best.

I will say one bit of advice, mixing stamina and magicka for damage is not going to work out very well most of the time. Generally you pick one stat to focus on and choose attacks which scale off of that. sometimes people add a buff or something which uses the other resource.

Magwardens can be very hard to kill from what I hear, but if you're not planning on doing the tank role itself, don't take the tri focus passive in destro skill line, becuase if you use Ice staff with Tri Focus passive, it will cause any heavy attacks to taunt, which will *** off the person actually doing the tank role, and possibly get you killed depending on the content.

yes, with ice staff just don't take the trifocus for now - you can think about that later on.

You may google for builds...
AlcastHQ.com is staple site to begin with and there are many others.

There is very few in-game information about mechanics, about how combat works etc... so you can only learn yourself + use information from internet.

You can, but its not for someone starting IMO and better in PvP. In fact, those kinds of builds have a lot of power in this patch, more than people realize

That gives you an idea of what to work toward as you are learning the game and then you can modify to fit your style. It also provides beginner equipment sets that are player craftable, so no need to farm drops.

Really though until you hit CP160 I'd just stick with training gear in whatever flavors you can find.

Just know that the heavy attack to taunt is slow and you miss out on the major breach and fracture that the sword and board taunt provides.

In that case your aoe dps will be inconsequential, healing lacking and tanking subpar.
I will work in normal content if you know what you're doing, but yea, diverse builds even though fun to play are very much suboptimal.

For now just pick the skills you're interested in. But as the first person in here said, even if you don't wanna use the other skills, slot them so they level. If you don't, your skill lines will never advance and you won't be able to unlock skills you may be interested in.

Play the way you want, don't feel you have to follow someone else's advice, especially not knowing how your playstyle compares to theirs. Builds are only important if you are looking to be in the most competitive few percent of players, and even then you wouldn't need to worry about it at low level.

If you're on PC/NA seek out a guy named @Sitherz, he does just that and he's the best at it.

That's a harder build to do well, I think you should focus on more traditional role focused builds until you master the build mechanics.

No.

You can only earn experience points (XP) towards whichever skill bar is active.

So, before you turn quests in for example, be sure you have the skill bar you want the XP applied active.

No, you've to be on the weapon bar you wanna level up OR put a skill tied to the weapon line in the bar of the other weapon.
You not gonna be use it but you'll gain xp for the second weapon line.

Like it have been said, don't focus on build for now, it's not that easy you might think when you start.
Level up all skill line you can, even if you don't think you gonna use them later.

Try everything, don't wast your time by making precise build right now, take your time, enjoy the overland quest and content, try everything, every weapon you'll be fine.

For the point in stam/magika/health, I would recommend you to focus 1 according to the skill you use the most (magika is easier when you start since most classe skill start magika.
Stamina gameplay is more tied to weapon (2 handed, bow, dual wield, even shield and board can be fun to use while leveling)

If it's your 1st char, just try all, even if it seem fancy and not effective.
Then, later, around cp 160 (where gear stop level up) come back or check video/website to get more info on who it's played in more difficult content (overland is pretty easy overall)
