Should your weapon disappear when casting class abilities?

I'm looking at you Necromancer
Add a Scribing skill that works like Arcanist beam.

Veteran players have been alienated and disengaged from Overland since One Tamriel, due to the lack of difficulty, and pushed into dungeons and trials; the minority of content in the Elder Scrolls Online. We can't take the repetition anymore, fix Overland engagement for Vet players. I don't even care if it's not combat related anymore, just make Overland engaging again.
---
Overland difficulty scaling is desperately needed. 10 years. 6 paid expansions. 25 DLCs. 41 game changing updates including One Tamriel, an overhaul of the game including a permanent CP160 gear cap and ridiculous power creep thereafter. I'm sick and tired of hearing about Cadwell Silver & Gold as a "you think you do but you don't" - tier deflection to any criticism regarding the lack of overland difficulty in the game. I'm bored of dungeons, I'm bored of trials; make a personal difficulty slider for overland. Make a self debuff mythic. Literally anything at this point.

Minor annoyance, but still an annoyance either way. Basically, certain weapons + class + abilities don't get hidden and the rest do. Pick one or the other, and preferably just stop hiding the weapon. Most of the time I end up weapon surfing do to weapon "hiding" after using a casted or channeled ability. I'm not a skilled surfer, stop trying to make me into one.

Depends on the ability. Like for example the Eviscerate skill should not have your weapon being used.

Option A - create dozens of more animations so having weapons in hand when using various abilities doesn't look incredibly stupid or cause serious clipping issues (which is a lot of time and work)

Option B - create one animation per ability regardless of the weapon the player has equipped by hiding the weapon so it will look good regardless of what the player is using (which is a lot less work)

Option C - make ESO more like a tabletop RPG and force players to spend a second sheathing their weapon before using certain abilities, effectively introducing a cast time to most abilities in the game (which many players would whine about)

It's not hard to understand why the developers went with Option B.

The weapons should be sheathed/remain sheathed depending on context. I too dislike surfing on my sword or bow.

Do you know how bad some things look when the weapons dont disappear?
Do you know how bad it will look if they changed it so all of the class abilities didn't? what you think they would add animations for those skills so it doesn't look silly if they changed that?
Have you seen how much effort they put into greymore's release and the base game patch?
That is to say, they didnt put much effort in at all.
    So no
    If they changed that
They would not make animations for sheaving or it being on your back. it would be clipping through your head and hands stuff like overload heavy attacks and slapping with eviscerate and dk's searing strike but 10000x worse.
there would be no immersion. only immersion breaking.
Necromancer's animations work because they fit well in with the fast pace of the game(unlike wardens) and look not the worst when weaving. They are short and sweet and genuinely well made animations.

Er.... no? I mean, I haven't noticed any issues with this personally.... but in general, I prefer my weapons remain visible under all combat circs.

I really love how player character holds his both dual wield weapons in one hand while casting turn evil from fighters guild.
Also, when casting sorc fragments they place their weapon on their back, don't know if you have noticed but if you have dual wield while casting it both of those weapons go to your back. It looks very cool in my opinion.
Necro abilities just make weapons invisible though, not cool.

Comparing Sorcerer to Necromancer, most of the Sorcerers class abilities work well with weapons, they do not dissapear in 90% of cases, like if you do mages fury(the sorc execute) with dual wield your character will take the time to put away there off hand then cast it, but with shield the shield dissapears.
With necromancer not a single class ability works with weapons, you use a class ability your weapon dissapears its that simple.
The devs used to care about the quality of their animations, these days they dont even think about, you could probably patch up most other classes so weapons wouldn't dissapear but necro would require a full rework of animations.

Magic. My theory is that the caster places the weapon(s) into a transient transliminal demiplane, thus freeing their hands to cast their spell.

I don't understand why so many people are so determined to deny the evidence of their own experience, especially when acceptance of that evidence makes the game so much more immersive and enjoyable.

    Surely, they can't all be flat-earthers ;)

I can see how some animations might look weird if a weapon was in hand, but for the most part, I would still rather them remain in hand.

For mages it makes sense to shoulder a staff and use it as a mana-stick to cast certain spells. For weapon skill classes, like most stamina classes, it's a bit weird.
