What spell or effect did I just see?

It was a fire spell; it had the same initial animation as the Mages Guild ultimate, but it was a small fiery explosion that the player was casting frequently. What spell was I seeing?
It was a necromancer character, but I know it wasn't a necromancer spell!

Maybe Valkyn Skoria monster set or Infernal Guardian? (Not sure if IG puts the little circle under your feet though)1 -
