vMA Stage 5 (Ice) Stamblade choreography

Why make this post on an old arena that most players have already completed and moved on from? Because it took me over 2 years to get through this stage and a post like this is what did it. Videos were no help.

I can now complete Stage 5 without a death. It’s all about ignoring the boss but obsessing over the boss’ health. Seems counterintuitive — and not as obvious when watching a video.

Here’s how I do it.

1. Start on the ice pad that you spawn in on.
2. Lay down your AOEs on the pad when the boss spawns. She’ll run to you. IGNORE HER. but keep your eye on her health percent.
3. While her health is 100-90, watch for the only add that can spawn: the troll. Kill it immediately. If you had to leave your pad to do it, return when done. Spend the rest of your time simply avoiding the boss’ attacks.
4. Gently let the boss whittle down to 90%. I let my AOE take her because I’m preparing for the 90% mark. I’m doing little more than dodging her attacks while watching her health bar.
5. At 90% two adds, a caster and one of those damn archers, will spawn to your right if you’re facing the center of the arena. Kill them both. I run into the water to do it and the. Run back fast.
6. With the adds gone, you only have two things to do: watch for the next troll and whittle the boss to 75%.
7. When the boss gets to 75%, sprint counter clockwise to the next pad. The boss will destroy the first pad. IGNORE HER and kill any trolls or adds. She’ll come to you again when she’s ready.
8. The hardest part is done. Lay down AOEs, kill all the adds and watch for trolls. Take your time as nothing important happens until 45%.
9. At 45% move to the last pad. You wi probably get there long before the boss. You can ignore the troll now because he only has one place to go: to you. He’ll die fast in your AOE.
10. At this point I grab my first sigil, the shield. This will kill the archer adds that spawned so you can ignore them while they kill themselves.
11. Now, finally, you can do what you’ve wanted to do all arena and go ham on the boss. You may kill her fast and be done right now but I usually get her to 10% or so when I need to deal with 2 more adds...
12. Two adds will spawn right next to the axe sigil. One is an archer and yiur shield sigil is probably expired so I don’t risk dying and I focus the adds. Because of their position, it’s effortless to grab the axe here too.
13. Kill the adds and execute the boss. Done.

Note that there is just one thing that can disrupt this dance: the troll. He is always priority While everything else in the round is queued off the boss health, the troll is on an independent timer. If the troll destroys a pad, you’re done. Start over.

Because of this, I do 90% of my fighting facing the center of the arena so I can see the troll spawn.

Depending on what’s happening on my pad, I may range the troll or run to him and melee. If things are nuts on my pad, I leave and return. If it’s just me and the boss, I range.

Hope this helps. Typed it on my phone on an airplane so apologies for any typos

Will save this and try. Will you post choreography for other stages?

Maybe, but I’m really not good enough to offer advice for most of the other stages.

Stages 1, 2, 3,, 4, and 8 are straightforward enough that just watching a couple videos is all you need. Unfortunately, most where made before the massive Nerfs of 2019 so some of the skills they use are virtually ineffective now.

    Stage 5 I posted.

Stage 6 is currently my nemesis. In my last run I died 16 times here and only 5 times the rest of the arena. I need help.

Stage 7 I can post but there’s a lot of luck involved so I’m not sure I’m qualified to comment. I have cleared 7 with only one death. I’ve also had >20.

Stage 9 final boss is perhaps the most choreographed fight in the game and I’m still learning it. I’ll post my technique eventually but right now it can take many 3-4 tries so I’m also unqualified to comment.
