Deadly Strike Set not buffing Toxic Barrage

This has been bugged ever since patch got released. Tested on PTS and tested on Live server, Deadly Strike 5p does not buff the channeled portion of Toxic Barrage anymore.

Please note that the 57 damage difference on the screenshot comes from having one stamina glyph on the 4p Deadly as opposed to tri glyph on 5p Deadly, otherwise numbers would be the same.

    This ability is clearly channeled and should get the buff.

    What about abilities with cast times?

    Doesn't work on dizzying swing, lethal arrow, Onslaught, Dawnbreaker.

    So it works on dots and stamplar jabs....

    It works with Flurry too, which is a channeled skill accessible to all toons. It does not buff cast time skills, which is a separate category, unless those are also channels (none come to mind) or have dot components (in which case that part of the damage should be buffed).

    It also buffs physical/bleed/poison/disease dot components of sets, like Viper and Relequen.

    Yes, just tested it again on PTS.

    4 pieces of Deadly Strike equipped, 3017 tick from Toxic Barrage
    5 pieces of Deadly Strike equipped, 3017 tick from Toxic Barrage.

    Responded in another thread, but I believe this is intentional. The bow ultimate is not a Damage over Time ability. It is primarily direct.

    No, it doesn’t get a buff at all, and properly so. The DoT part of Toxic Barrage is NOT its own ability. It is an “auxiliary” effect added by that one morph that Rapid Fire and Ballista do not have. It would not matter if the DoT set in at 1, 2, or 3 seconds in. It should not be buffed by Cruel Flurry because the ability itself is not a DoT ability, just like Hardened Armor/Shielded Assault/Ferocious Leap are not shield abilities for the purposes of the Shield Master CP even though they grant a shield. The situation and logic is identical.

    As mentioned in the other thread, a simple fix to this problem would be to adjust the wording on the bow ultimate to represent its damage type accordingly.

    Something as simple as “Ballista fires X arrows over 4 seconds, each dealing Y damage” would save theorycrafters a wasted journey through Maelstrom Arena, instead of having it worded like every other DoT ability in the game.

    For sure! I’m always in favor of updating language to be clear and consistent. I agree they need to be more transparent about whether skills are DoTs or Direct.

    My point was that this has nothing to do with this being an ultimate ability or the DoT setting in more than 4 seconds after Cruel Flurry stops buffing new casts. You can cast Vampire’s Bane and get 32 seconds of buff from Cruel Flurry.
