What do I do with the "museum" stuff?

kelthehero
Hey Scooby Gang!
Long-time player, first time MMORPGer. Couldn't find the answer to this. My character now has a couple of "museum" pieces in inventory. What the [bleep] am I supposed to do with these?

There will be museum quests where you bring them in to fill the museum. Here is a link to the the various museum quests in the game. https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Online:Museums

I thought you meant items no longer used in game and I was going to say, someone one here was collecting all the unused items and I'm sure you could get a pretty penny for them

    Hi and welcome! :)

To answer your question, that depends on where you got the pieces from. IIRC Morrowind, Summerset and Wrothgar all have "museum pieces" that can be collected. In Morrowind you would have to return them to Vivec City, the Relics of Summerset need to go to the Vault of Moawita (I think), which is in Artaeum, and in Wrothgar it would be the House of Orsimer Glories in Orsinium. Could be that there are other locations with museum pieces, too, but these are the ones I can recall right now.

Murkmire, northern and southern Elsweyr also have museum pieces. Clockwork City sort of does (the precursor quest) but is unlike the rest in that these pieces are all over the base game, rather than just the zone associated with the museum.

Thanks gang! I'll search out the specific museum where they belong. I am assuming that the *proper* way to do this would be to actually get the quest from someone associated with a museum (curator at the museum?) and THEN go find the pieces - Yes?

That's correct and generally when you do it that way you get a book or similar item that gives hints for the locations. But all of them can be picked up before hand just in case you happen onto one and it probably gets some people to start the museum quest in the first place.

Exactly this. I would also recommend that, even though you might be tempted to look some of the locations up online, you at least try to find the pieces on your own using the hints. That can be pretty hard and take a while, but it is so much more satisfying in the end!

Thanks! Maybe I am completely blind. I checked out the link and went to different regions and didn't see any museum quests specifically spelled out :/

Like I said, maybe I am blind. I'll look again.

But at least now I know what the heck I am supposed to do with them! :D

Looking for the quests may not help in all cases. If I remember correctly, the one in Orsinium, for example, is started when you find the first eligible item, or you may read a flier posted somewhere. Usually the museum itself is NOT the place where the quest will start!

Or you could just wait until you naturally reach a museum collection quest start point.
In the meantime, it's safe to Destroy the item. If you are right where you picked it up and you destroy it, you'll see that it respawns immediately in the game world.
