Latest patch: Can I just uninstall the game and re-download it? STEAM

Last I opened ESO was around November 2019, and I don't have enough disk space sorry.
iirc it would download the new client and then delete the old one. as if downloading another fresh eso client as patch, "then" delete the old client. basically me, needing another 70-90gb space "for the new client patch" before it clears/delete the old one.
now the question is?, is the steam version now updated to the latest client upon download? i don't want to re-download the old one, then apply another patch that downloads the other new client.
I hope you guys get what im saying. english is my third language sorry.

From what I have read on the forums, if you uninstall the old version first and then try to patch, Steam will install the old version before it patches.

Is there something on your computer that you can uninstall to make space (another game, perhaps?) and then reinstall it after running the ESO patch?

As of now? I can't, my drive is full of docs and programs from my work (unfortunate for people who doesn't have dedicated gaming drives) the other game I have now is only 20gb.. not enough to make space even if I uninstall it. Well, I hope this clears up something for the other readers as well. The only thing left to do is wait for an announcement, for a fresh new download available on STEAM with the new optimized client, I suppose? Thanks for the reply.

Well... If you don't mind spending a few euroos, you could buy an ESO key (legit) for about 8 euro, redeem the code in your ESO account and get the normal non-steam installer and install. Everything should transfer (DLC etc).

I wonder if this is only for this patch week. I mean i can't see ZOS making new players and old players who reinstall in the future requiring the old game to be installed first, then the new one to be installed, then the old one removed.

Anyway, OP, do you have an external HDD? Create a Library on that, move the game, patch/reinstall, then move it back.

Or, buy a new SSD, and clone your old one, no need to reinstall the OS or other Games or Programs.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

Someone on another thread was talking about deleting chunks of the current game folder, then it will still patch.

UPDATE: I managed to clear some space with 56gb left, crossed my fingers then applied the patch
Currently it Started around 52gb, I just hope there is no extra patch after this huge patch before deleting the old client Itself.
I was surprised as I was expecting the patch to be around 70gb or so. Thanks for the replies.
