    Just curious if it's only those on PTS who are having newsfeed problems with the updated launcher. My launcher install croaked a bit (I had some message popups about another instance of the launcher already running, took a while before I could relaunch it after the patch), but the news item links (both left and right hand panels) work fine for me.

    I don't have the PTS installed (had to delete it to make enough space for the big update yesterday) but whether I have 'show public test environment' ticked or not in the launcher, the newsfeed fails to load.

    Thanks. However, is there anything that can be done to fix the news not loading please? I googled it and found that when this previously happened it required a quick fix at your end to the news tracker.

    Is this still occurring? If so, do you have the "new" patcher with the Greymoor logo or does it still have the Elsweyr art?

    Thanks for the reply Sarah. Yes, I have the same launcher art as that shown above in post #7. I've closed and re-opened the launcher a number of times, and each time it says it's loading "Updated Application List" and then the launcher opens fully with "loading" on the news section followed by "Could Not Load News". The good news is that the "Play" button works fine :smile: !

    Yup no news on the launcher. no worries. i dont really need the news anyway...
    I simply must protest. There are no Penguin avatars for me to use in the forums.

    I'm not on PTS and I still have those launcher news problems, BUT not on start. It seems to blank out sometime later, and when I close and restart the launcher, the news show up again.
    And I'm not on Win 7 but Win 8.1.

    Hm... if it's affecting a lot of Win7 PCs, my guess is that they are missing some DLL or other that is required to display the XML file info in the launcher.
    Just to clarify, the article information displays just fine for me from the launcher. I'm not sure exactly what @ZOS_SarahHecker meant by asking us to click on the https://www.elderscrollsonline.com/en-us/rss/newspatcher link though, when using a browser I also just see an XML file, with slight differences.

    In Edge (default browser), I see a line of encoding meta data (see below), then :
    <rss xmlns:content="http://purl.org/rss/1.0/modules/content/&quot; xmlns:atom="http://www.w3.org/2005/Atom&quot; version="2.0"><div xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml&quot; style="color: blue; font-weight: normal; margin-left: -4em;"><?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1"?></div><style xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">@namespace html url(http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml); :root { font:small Verdana; font-weight: bold; padding: 2em; padding-left:4em; } * { display: block; padding-left: 2em; } html|style { display: none; } html|span, html|a { display: inline; padding: 0; font-weight: normal; text-decoration: none; } html|a[tabindex='0'] { cursor: pointer; } html|span.block { display: block; } *[html|hidden], *[html|hidden] *, span.block[html|hidden] { display:none!important; } .expand { display: block; } .expand:before { content: '+'; color: red; position: absolute; left: -1em; } .collapse { display: block; } .collapse:before { content: '-'; color: red; position: absolute; left:-1em; } </style><a xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml&quot; tabindex="0" class="collapse" role="treeitem" aria-expanded="true" aria-posinset="1" aria-setsize="1" aria-level="1" style="color: blue; margin-left: -2em; position: relative;"><<span style="color: rgb(153, 0, 0);">rss</span> <span style="color: red;">xmlns:content</span>="<span style="color: red; font-weight: bold;">http://purl.org/rss/1.0/modules/content/</span>&quot; <span style="color: red;">xmlns:atom</span>="<span style="color: red; font-weight: bold;">http://www.w3.org/2005/Atom</span>&quot; <span style="color: rgb(153, 0, 0);">version</span>="<span style="color: black; font-weight: bold;">2.0</span>"></a>
    <channel><a xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml&quot; tabindex="0" class="collapse" role="treeitem" aria-expanded="true" aria-posinset="1" aria-setsize="3" aria-level="2" style="color: blue; margin-left: -2em; position: relative;"><<span style="color: rgb(153, 0, 0);">channel</span>></a>
    ...<snip>
    (904 lines of xml that is much more nicely formatted in the browser, most of which I have intentionally omitted)

    In Chrome (which I use for viewing the forums), it's exactly the same, except for one line of underlined text at top of page (before the xml):
    This XML file does not appear to have any style information associated with it. The document tree is shown below.

    vs. on Edge, the following line (not included above) appears in the browser page before the rest of the xml:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding=ISO-8859-1"?>

    Note: if I keep trying to copy that xml data from the Edge webpage (it doesn't work, doesn't seem to allow normal copy and paste), I eventually get an error about "This page is having a problem loading". However, the console does not provide any useful information about the cause, so I don't know if this is meaningfully connected or just normal behaviour if you are trying to do something that an xml page does not allow.

    By way of an update:

    This morning my main desktop running Windows 7 was still failing to load the news. This afternoon I upgraded it to Windows 10 (coincidentally!) and the news is launching normally.

    The problem has been with the Update 25 launcher and Windows 7
    ZOS responded to my ticket and wanted me to do the following:
    .
    Specifically, you should ensure you have downloaded and installed the following updates:

    KB2919355 (April 2014 Update) - this is a ~800 MB update and may require you to install other updates first. We recommend that you keep your OS is fully updated.
    KB2999226 (Update for Universal C Runtime in Windows).

    You should also repair then uninstall and reinstall "vcredist_x64_2015.exe" and "vcredist_x86_2015.exe" (if you're on a 64bit Windows OS) from the ESO Launcher directory or download Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2015.
    Finally, you should ensure that you have completely updated your graphics card drivers, including the drivers for integrated GPUs (usually found in Windows Update).
    If you are unable to run Windows Update successfully, or are having issues downloading or installing the updates, you should contact Microsoft Support.

    The way I see it the news feed was working just fine prior to the Feb 25 launcher update therefore I fail to see a problem with my window files. The problem is on their end and I am not going to go thru all those steps to see if I can get the news feed back. I can live without it. Too bad there is not a way to revert to the older launcher.

    yeah, news feed works fine on my Windows 10 laptop, but is borked on my Windows 7 computer. it was shortly after update 25. the launcher updated to the Greymoor theme, but it still says cannot load news.

    and the link shows: "This XML file does not appear to have any style information associated with it. The document tree is shown below."
    Shortly after the formation of the Ebonheart Pact, a Nord woman was given a tour of the Tribunal Temple. When later asked about the experience, she seemed upset. Suffice to say, the Dunmer were not pleased to hear this, and thus they inquired further.
    "Well," the Nord frowned, "the priests were very angry and unwelcoming. They kept shouting things at me like "you can't drink that mead in here!" and "somebody stop her, she's running naked!" and "we can't catch her; she's covered in grease!""

    @ZOS_SarahHecker

    According to the Microsoft Windows Update Catalog KB2919355 is an update for Windows 8.1. There is no listing of it that is applicable to Windows 7. So it is not installed on my computer (and won't be).

    KB2999226 was installed on my computer system on 10/10/2015.

    When I click on Newspatcher Firefox 73.0.1 (64-bit) displays a web page that has the Newspatcher announcements.

    As ZOS_BillE requested, I submitted a message to Support - Ticket Number 200306-004496. Thus far, there has not been any acknowledgement of its receipt or a reply to it.

    so is this just gonna be a thing for us Windows 7 users that refuse to downgrade to Windows 10?
