What is actual installed size on PC? (not about download requirements)

This isn't about how much disk space we need to meet downloading requirements, this isn't about why or why not the installed size isn't same as download size requirements, or complaining about either - other threads for that.

All I want to know is what is the post-installation client footprint or disk space taken on PC?

Patch notes said installed client size would now be smaller, and ~66GB

On my installation it took ~88GB when I used launcher to simply update over old installation, like most people did I imagine. However, I also did a full uninstall, then reinstall and the size is again ~88GB.

Have plenty of disk space so not upset or anything, just genuinely curious why the discrepancy of nearly +22GB actual installed footprint vs patch notes claim ~66GB.
(also note that when you do a full reinstall the download data is precisely 87.3GB on steam PC version)

It's specifically a steam issue. There's been a few threads about this and I think some fixes for it. I'll try to find them.
The full install from steam seems to be because their install is actually outdated (was the last info I had on that). The larger end result I think is because steam has some extra stuff in there, and/or doesn't properly delete some of the stuff that's meant to go?

You can check if you still have the different language voice files, for example.

The steam version includes localization files for german and french (about 20 gb) they can be safely deleted
EDIT: unless you need them. The folders are named vo_de and vo_fr

[edit - just read the folder names above where they are, thanks]

new comment - if DE and FR takes 20gigs, I would assume the upcoming russian localization will take decent chunk of space and be similarly force downloaded. Guess will need to delete that in future too.

The eso launcher itself does not download them, they are included in the game files in steam. So, unless you reinstall via steam they will not be download again in future patches, I assume the same will happen with Russian too in the future.

The steam version folder contains voice-over language folders other than english. With the new file sizes those two folders would total 16-17GB which would account for the difference you are seeing. You should be able to simply delete the non-english folders.

I did a fresh install on a nw drive instead of an upgrade. The final file size is 66.7 GB

My Eso folder is about 66,7gb

I nearly did a full new install aswell. Had to delete most eso.dats to have enough disk space available.

From Steam, mine was 88GB or so. Deleting the French and german voice files brought me down to 67GB or so.

Last time I asked, apparently the forced downloading of all the voiceover files including the ones you don't use is a Steam thing. I've always been able to delete them with no problems.

I want to move ESO to my SSD, and when I tried to install it, I got a message that there was not enough space (125 GB required). If the size is around 67 GB or so, I don't understand why I'm getting that message when I have 125 GB available. Any thoughts? I downloaded directly from the ESO site. Thanks!

Because during the installation process installer and all of the downloaded files have to co-exist with a fully installed game at the same point in time. This is the intended behaviour.

I've done the patch install and a full uninstall/reinstall couple times now since Harrowstorm release and here's what I can now confirm --->
*note- all based on PC Steam version, no idea re: other platform

    1. Full install/reinstall of Steam ESO client download size is ~88GB

    2. However once uncompressed and actually installed takes ~108GB on disk (b/c Steam still uses old installation client that is larger than new Harrowstorm slimmed down version)

    3. When using launcher for 1st time, game updates with Harrowstorm download ~56GB update

    4. When installed this Harrowstorm update automatically trims down prior 108GB on disk size to ~88GB

    5. Optional to make disk size even smaller, I could delete French and German voice over files as pointed out by helpful ppl above ^^ - this saves ~20GB, making final installed disk size ~66GB

I believe the download process requirement asks for 125GB because the original/old install client still being used for full reinstall takes 108GB once uncompressed. Basically, they reserve 125GB for what ultimately ends up being 66GB used if extra language VO files deleted.
