'Fess up. Who fed my clannfear that much turkey?

When I logged in today after the patch I noticed a very strange behavior from my clannfear. It's slow, sluggish and for some reason it isn't even bothering to go close to enemies, choosing instead to attack from range*. When it attacks, that is.

After the patch in which it became a tank's pet (or a pet tank), clannfears would turn one enemy around so that the enemy's back was facing my character. Today that behavior has changed and the few times my clannfear actually engaged in battle, the most it did was to turn the enemy to the side.

* and the crazy thing is that the game is registering those attacks. o_O

On another note, I noticed that stealing became more...finicky in some cases. I tried pick pocketing the alchemist inside the crafting area in CWC and it took me a very long time to get the green light on him (I steal from him every time I go there, which is at least 3 times a week). I was getting detected and getting prompts that he was aware even without LoS.

I'll do some more stealing - for science, of course - in the coming days and see if I come across other instances where similar situations are happening.

Has anyone else noticed similar things with their pets?

Same problem here regarding the clannfear. When I send the pet in to attack, it's like he pauses still standing next to me and then does the tail swipe as a ranged attack. The mob then comes running at the pet instead of the clannfear charging in and engaging the target where it stands like it used to before the patch.

I've not tried stealing myself since the patch but have read that it has changed. Something along the lines guards now using anti-stealth abilities.

Possibly regular citizens have also become a bit less vulnerable to theft.

Yes! I saw a friend playing with his Tormentor yesterday, and she too seemed to be slow. There were some enemies that she didn't even bother to attack.

    Thank you.

Thank you. What is bothering me is that there was no mention of changes in the patch notes.

@ZOS_GinaBruno , sorry to bother you. Could you please let the people responsible for these know when you have some time? TIA

I don't know who's clan fear it was, but he kept nudging my elbow while I was eating my sammich. I threw the drumstick behind a rock so it would leave me in peace. I apologize if this caused your clanfear to need a nap.

I do. It's a skill available for my class. One that works well for my play style.

I don't know which one of the morphs is the zap and which is the flappy - I call them something that can't be posted in the forum.

That said, I saw a friend playing with his Tormentor, and his too seemed sluggish. I don't know if the Matriarch is showing the same behavior.

Spellsword here - I was in vardenfell today normally opening combat from a distance with soul harvest - my clanfear immediately ran to the target. Even when monsters do a jumping attack my clanfear followed the monster. But that was about 12 hours ago, I will test it later.

    Thank you @InaMoonlight , @Lysette and @jircris11 .

@Lysette , are you using add ons?

@jircris11 , sad to know that your bear was affected too. Did you by any chance noticed if the bear is attacking from range?

Yesterday my clannfear brought an enemy to me, instead of going to the enemy and turning it around.

Ok, just tested it, my clanfear is just fine - doing it's job like a charm. Only "flaw", if I jump down a cliff, my clanfear won't follow jumping if there is a path around as well, and if I attack something meanwhile and my clanfear runs into some other enemy on it's path, it will fight that then first and consider that as the second target to turn around. I'm good with that.

Otherwise it is really responsive after a short delay after opening combat - but this could be my ping causing this. It is fine as it is, my clanfear is supporting me very well and is agile. As a spellsword I do not much of ranged combat, but are jumping right in with stampede, start hurricane and mix endless fury with axe attacks. I have pretty low magicka, but endless fury refreshes this and I'm basically jumping around the battlefield with stampede and my clanfear rushes around keeping secondary threats away from me - it is fun, i like my clanfear a lot.

Thank you for the update. I'm happy to know the clannfear is working as it should for you. Mine is still sluggish, even when he pulls enemies that I've have successfully managed to avoid. I too like my clannfear very much.

As for the part I quoted, I don't remember my clannfear ever jumping down cliffs. When I do jump down, which I do a lot, he'll eventually find some path down. As far as I can tell it was always like this.

The delay is exactly what I'm talking about. Before the patch my clannfear was much faster engaging combat - and going to the enemy. I've encountered situations where my clannfear didn't attack at all, other times it will attack from range and there were times when he only got to the enemy after it was dead.

    _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Yesterday I turned all my add ons off (I don't have that many) before playing and the clannfear behavior didn't change. He's still sluggish, sometimes non-responsive and, when he engages, attacking from range a lot.

I'm a sorc, I play Stam DD and Tank (Both in dungeons and trials). I use Clannfear in both scenarios, always.

It's often doing strange things, hitting the air etc...
It's a free DoT, and a very good self heal (even as DD), I see no reason not to slot it.
My rotation has very few DoTs, so the bar space is not an issue as DD, and the passives and the heal are just too good as a tank.

Honestly, it's very good, and I wouldn't take it out of my bars for anything else.

I can face tank a dragon breath in vSS HM (or other pressuring abilities like that) without external heal, and the heal saved me countless times while trying to clear some DLC dungeon HMs as DD.

Not sure, pets are pretty dumb you know. I don't check on it that much, a storm atro, I will make sure it's hitting the correct target, a clannfear, I let it do its things, I mostly need it for the heal, and anything it hits, that's bonus.
Also, several times, I thought my pet lost its mind, hitting a wall, but actually, there was an enemy stuck here.
