52GB Update

what's going on? today I tried to launch the game, just to play for a while and get the event tickets and got stuck with an insane 52GB update.

I'm on a metered connection, I can't even use more than 15GB per month, and I was planing to find an access on a city only in a couple of months. I wasn't expecting nothing like this before May. So... why this? the game was running well yesterday, i don't believe that i have corrupted files. this is crazy!!!

is there any way to bypass this absurd update?

ZOS been announcing this for a long time and there have been multiple posts about it. I mean c'mon...

Maybe ZOS should have put this in the launcher with all the Crown store marketing ads, or possibly sent an email to all accounts. Otherwise you would need to follow the forums or ZOS social media to be in the loop. Some folks just play the game.

that is not true, it was announced numerous times on the web page, and if you don't go there, in the Launcher. I'm looking at announcement right now.

    Same goes for the OP

You should call ZOS support and have them send you the update on floppy disks.

That was my thought since Zos started telling us about this update months ago.

What does advanced warning have to do with it? If this is legit, you usually can't just save up gigs of download in anticipation.

Remember this, when you next want to say "ZOS doesn't teach mechanics", or "ZOS should post this to channel X", or similar things. People don't read, least of all things that say README.

Probably close to PC which is roughly a 65-70 GB download.

About the same size, but your install will drop in size by about 30GB. And, supposedly the patches will be much smaller for the consoles than they have been.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

i don't think that they should alert anything. i've been able to do all updates since the release, and in the last years i've been using a metered connection. the problem this time was only the size not the lack of alert, just that. i wasn't aware of this... in fact i still don't know what's happening. i'm going to search for the update info and try to find a place to download it.

@NeKryXe Everyone was forced to redownload the game. We've known that for several months now and there have been plenty of warnings in the launcher, on the website, on twitter, during ESO live, on the forums and there even has been talk about it ingame among players. There is even a free red torchbug pet in the crown store to make up for the inconvenience.
Of course someone is going to miss all of that headsup. Always.
This Bosmer was tortured to death. There is nothing left to be done.

didn't notice. but i also didn't complained about the lack of information. i was just surprised by the size of it. anyway i already read all the information and looks like ít might be amazing if it's really like they say!

Taking stealth away from the Bosmer is like taking magic away from the Altmer, making Nords allergic to mead, or making Orcs pretty.

I just came back to ESO a week ago after years away, and even I knew about it. Saw it right on the launcher. Also received an email about it. Having a hard time understanding how it took people by surprise. It's literally been everywhere.

I heard absolutely NOTHING about this patch. Granted, I am not obsessed with the game and constantly visiting forums, but you'd still think it would have been mentioned in game that I need to re-download the whole game.

    Not totally stoked about this.

no, but you can start patching earlier. I had no idea it would be this large, so there goes my evening plans down the drain.

Well, I'm sorry that YOU did not hear it, but it was announced in every possible ESO related media and pushed to game launcher.

Also, if we want to nitpick, it is completely strange for me that if you play the game actively, you don't visit the web page from time to time, for example, to check the new stuff, announcements, future plans and so on.

Not being informed is your choice, not ZOS fault.

if you really are stuck to 15 GB a month you might want to see if a freind can download it for you and then put it on a thumb drive and give it to you, that's how I have to do it. no one seems to think (or care) about those on metered connections, its a bunch of BS

Yup. Me too.... stick on its way snail mail tomorrow, and after I get it (hope it's Priority 3 Day....) I'll be sending the stick on to another friend with a similar situation.

Love where I live.... the available connection? Not so much. Though I do have to say, for me it's more the sheer amount of 2 am to 8 am hours it would take me to download it myself (due to not very fast connection) than it is the bandwidth. Because satellite is dicey, if I'm downloading in the free zone, I have to babysit it - which means getting up at 2 am and dozing at my desk until 8 am. 40 years ago, that wouldn't have been a problem. It is now.
