PC NA Issue: Controller Not Working After Patch

Simply put, I have a wired Xbox controller I play with, due to nerve damage. It doesn't work now since the patch hit.

Also, you're unable to change them under Settings>Keybindings.

Tested it with other titles just in case; and it's working fine in every other game/mmo I play this morning.

There may be an issue with your current usersettings when it comes to setting the controls.

We suggest deleting two settings files to ensure ESO is at it's default settings. To do so, follow the instructions below:
    1. Open up the Documents folder on your computer.
    2. Open the Elder Scrolls Online folder, then open the Live folder.
    3. Find the ShaderCache and UserSettings files.
    4. Create copies of each file, then delete the originals.
    5. Close everything and start ESO again.

NOTE: This will reset all in-game settings to their defaults. Please take a moment when you next log in to review the settings for the game.

Sadly this didn't help. What else could I try?

I've tried literally everything except for reinstalling the game now.

I have a PS4 controller connected via wire and it's semi working. The connection comes in and out but the was happening before the patch. Now the interface zoom no longer works with the controller interface. You go back to keyboard and mouse and you can change the interface size with no problem. Put it in game-pad mode and can no longer resize the interface.

I've now done a fresh install and the problem persists. XBox Controller. There's chat about it in game with no solution either.

I've wasted a day trying to get the controller working.

Please, @ZOS_BillE send my issue out and see if someone can help.

No Add-Ons, Xbox One controller. Keybindings show the right bindings for movement, but cannot register any button presses from any of my controllers. No controller functions. Same exact problem with a PS4 controller and a Steelseries USB Controller.

To add, I cannot add any new keybinds from controllers, but I can add new keybinds from a keyboard.

Try looking at the gamepad mode setting to see if it is ON or Automatic. I've had some issues with Automatic so having it ON has helped.

I have it working with the gamepad setting at On. Unfortunately the Interface zoom is not working with gamepad mode. So I have to live with a gigantic UI. It's annoying but at least it is working

@Hip_Uncle_Z have tried directly plugging the gamepad in rather than use it wirelessly. I suspect you did but just asking.

For some further clarification, under your settings when you go to gameplay, do you have Gamepad Mode toggled On?

Yep! I think I figured out how to fix it this morning.

    Turn Gamepad Mode Off.

    Shut down ESO.

    Unplug Gamepad.

Delete the Live folder from Documents>ESO, so everything reverts.

    Restart.

    Plug Controller Back In.

    Turn Gamepad Mode back On.

Yeah, mine's wired. I don't use wireless with MMO's over the possibility of Batteries dying mid fight (as that happened way too many times in the past, lol).

It's working with the steps above now.

    No idea why.

Maybe a setting change didn't let it acknowledge Gamepad Mode as On, despite showing On?

My controller is also not working.

I had to go back into the settings and turn it back on. Then the game crashed a few minutes later. WAI.

I went back to wireless on my PS4 controller. I mentioned early that my controller would constantly loose connection. The culprit is USB ports on my laptop. I’m using an old 2013 MacBook Pro running Windows via Bootcamp. Every time I connect my PS4 controller Using the wire cable I would loose connection.

In desperation I connected to my computer via Bluetooth and now it works with no problems. Perhaps my ports are not giving enough juice to the PS4 controller or some other problem. For now I’ll use Bluetooth until I get my gaming PC in March.

I thought my computer’s USB ports was the reason I was losing connection. My PS4 controller recently stopped charging. I use an old samsung phone 5 volt charger to charge the controller. When it stopped charging I googled it and found the micro usb connector is rather finicky and can stop charging. I started wondering if PS4’s micro usb connector has problems charging could it have problems connecting to my computer. I am getting PS4 docking station which uses a different port to charge the controller.
