Well, we're able to duel basically where ever right and it's just an option right well here's an idea

How bout make an option/toggle in settings or whatever and make it to where you can enable OpenWorldPVP..?? what's bad about the idea? it's just a random thought idc if it was added or not. technically this is just a discussion post about the idea lol

it was proposed before, just like WoW has, but random fuss around with people contradicting eachother, eventually with no conclusion.

    So, no.

They shud add it to trial lobby starting areas to pass the time while grouping. Cyro i think no though.

It depends. If its not a separate instance, you have to consider the performance impacts. Dueling in a crowded market can be annoying, but rarely awful performance wise.

Now think about two guild raids trying to battle it out in a crowded PVE hub, and the performance issues start to escalate quite a bit. While I doubt we'd quite hit the levels of a faction-stacked emp keep battle, if we ever did, its entirely likely that you'd see similar issues as in Cyrodiil - heavy lag and, in my case, the game freezing when approaching the battle.

Because the only thing more irritating than two gits duelling in my face would be a bunch of them doing it.

There is open world PvP. It's called Cyrodiil. Apparently there are large parts that are vastly underpopulated and could do with your business.

First off, Zos specifically stated recently that it was their intention that the open world PvE areas would not have PvP.
at the very early stage of creating the game, when it was a concept, we made a strong-willed decision. We want players to calmly explore our world. Enjoy the story and not be distracted by bloodshed. But we are well aware that PvP is interesting to players. For this, Cyrodiil was created

The comment above is from a Russian article where Rich was interviewed. Zos has reviewed the article and corrections were made to account for translation issues. It is the most straight forward and direct comment about Zos' design interests.

    https://www.goha.ru/interviews/intervyu-rich-lambert-o-the-elder-scrolls-online-russkoj-lokalizacii-byt-xzVeeG

Further, Zos had attempted to develop a system where players could flag themselves for certain interests with the idea that the game would try to place those of similar interests in the same instance. The main idea was to cater to the sizeable RP slice of the MMORPG market. Zos ended up tossing this idea due to complications or other issues.

The point is such a system would be required to provide a PvP option in the PvE zones since flag systems have failed time and time again as they are open to exploits and griefing.

So basically, doubt Zos will ever bring PvP to the existing PvE zones.

There's a sizeable number of us that would like the opposite, and ban dueling from all towns. I.e. places with merchants, banks, crafting.

Oh my god that would be a nightmare. And you know there’d be dorks that will do it just to be annoying.

They should give people a reason to actually use Hammerdeath Arena to duel and watch duels. It's a great space for dueling but without any incentive.

Here's an old thread on it: https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/297867/lets-talk-hammerdeath-arena/p1

I more for, making it a crime, same as when any player gets caught killing an NPC in town. Attacked on sight. Double the bounty cost for the victor, since they did technically kill a person in view of the NPCs.

More, not taking it away, but establishing just because you can, doesn't mean you really should. And reap what you sow / at your own risk situation.

I would love if you could duel in trial lobbies, especially since everyone is pve spec and it would b dumb and fun to watch. the reason you cant though is because apparently deaths in the lobby count towards the no death achievements/the death counter...

Oh Divines, no. Players now make using wayshrines and crafting areas a right royal pain when they start dueling. I keep giving /feedback about Boethiah portal/warping duels to her pocket universe, so the players who don't want to duel can actually using the wayshrines and crafting stations in peace. It has to be on purpose, because with all the clear areas a hundred feet away from the wayshrines and crafting stations they could fight all they want and inconvenience no one. If they allowed open world pvp, it would make playing a living hell for anyone who was simply trying to craft, quest, and interact with npcs and other players.

I'm not a dueler. Never was.
I agree there is nothing worse then 2 idiots dueling in front of undaunted enclave, or trading hub.
Having said that, it's actually far more convenient to duel out side of Cyro, for many reasons. That is the reason why ppl asked for it and was implemented.

Because pve zones aren't designed around pvp, and you'd spend a lot of your time wondering why no one is around to fight, and even when you see people they're not interested.

Mixing PvE and PvP is a bad idea.

Agreed. It should be illegal in cities and bounties issued just like necro abilities. It's so annoying piles of people spamming on the wayshrine.

As usually I'll get flamed because of my opinion, but:

Duels increase game attractiveness, some players are here just because of this aspect of the game. I'd love to see putting some incentive into using arenas for dueling. Options are unlimited. From giving rewards upto rankings and tournaments. But in most cases dueling is a way of spending time while waiting for group/trial/Cyro queue, so banning it in cities wouldn't be "fun".

I find it hilarious that so many people get "offended" by even looking on someone's dueling - so much fragile people these days. Yes, PvP in this game exists, and 3000 years ago this game was created mainly for PvP, but because of fragile people not being able to handle failure it was pushed into the background.

I am more annoyed by purple, shiny, sparkling mounts and skins. This is Elder Scrolls not Final Fantasy.

Sorry, I'm old school MMO player. If I die, I die. I respawn and try to get better - some people should really try it.
    Say no to Toxic Casuals!
I am doing my best, but I am not a native speaker, sorry.

"Difficulty scaling is desperately needed. 9 years. 6 paid expansions. 24 DLCs. 40 game changing updates including A Realm Reborn-tier overhaul of the game including a permanent CP160 gear cap and ridiculous power creep thereafter. I'm sick and tired of hearing about Cadwell Silver&Gold as a "you think you do but you don't"-tier deflection to any criticism regarding the lack of overland difficulty in the game." - @AlexanderDeLarge

Open World PvP sounds fun but it isn't, there's plenty of issues that would come with adding such a thing and eventually the company will have to regulate it in order to make the game playable. The most recent example of how such a feature would be a terrible idea is from Blizzards own relaunch of "WoW Classic" and In that product there is such a thing as "Open PvP" and it's infact one of the prime features of the product. Now while PvP is allowed between the two red/blue factions to the point where you are allowed to kill the enemy factions NPCs, you still cannot technically "win" in any foreign factions city/area... at most you gain control over it by constantly killing the NPCs that spawn there while you and your party just chill there and do whatever for hours or days. But this comes with an issue as there has been multiple servers where one faction has essentially done that and taken "complete control" over another factions city due to the low pop count on that faction in that server thus resulting in most of the players that just want to get to level 60 on that faction cannot anymore due to many of their own hubs essentially being taken over by the higher pop faction on that server, leaving those players sadly being unable to do anything about it. Here is a video showcasing this issue in action:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OtVgwR5LFtA

Now if you want to see the aftermath of this issue. Then just take a look at this other video as it shows the aftermath and what state the server has become, which is pretty much a ghost town:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qp6gOfbWgXg

There are plenty of other examples of how Open PvP in a MMORPG just doesn't blend well from Wildstar to many other products. At the end of the day you gotta remember that ESO is NOT a PvP focused game, the main content in the game is the storylines as many here wouldn't even be playing the product if there was 0 story in it. Yes, you can pvp via dueling or simply going to either Cyrodiil or Imperial City but those are simply side activities that don't block your progress through the game, which is fun to have such side activities admittedly. Are there ways to incorporate it without it being too detrimental to the game? sure but that goes for anything. But since this product has lasted this long without having a "Open PvP" that means it'll be fine without it; infact adding it will only cause more issues and strife to occur with the product.

So no, I disagree completely on you here. Adding Open World PvP is a terrible idea for this PvE focused game. The current system is fine as is.

For me PVP is a non starter /hate thing so for me the Idea is Nope. I do not want any sort of wow-ifaction to come to this game. PVP/PVE open world can bring out the absolute worst in some the gankers the griefers can go full ugly bully and the get their jollies out of being that way. As a counter idea though they could create a Cyrodyl where its full out no alliance and its just open season /free for all, this might actually take less time and money to create too.
