Gear Grind

This is no news but i want to talk about it again. Grinding for dungeon weapons and maelstrom arena armor sets is absolutely horrible. I literally stopped playing for a while because i want to try elemental succession set but could only get 3 shoulders and 1 boots. And i have atm 6 from every permafrost piece. How you behave your players with a system like this is just disrespectful. Shame on you!

Like, what is the even point of making a single player arena so grindy? No one knows what they do there, no one has to find other players to play it. Like, why?

This game has the least amount of grind compared to the other mmo's I play, BDO and Classic WOW.
    PC/NA
    T-Bois (Stam Sorc since 1.4) - AD
An Unsettling Snowball (Templar) - AD
    Bosquecito (Stam Sorc) - DC
    Peti-T-Bois (Stamden) - AD

Yeah imagine if every single chapter your gear became obsolete and you had to grind it all over again.

Cool don't complain about ESO's gear grind, be glad you can even "stop playing for awhile" and come back still even be relevant in the game unlike 90% of other MMO's.

I am sorry i havent sinked all my life in 20 MMOs like all of the rest here. So, i dont know how grindy other games are. But if you have a life, which i recommend you to get one people, than you may begin to realize how useless it is to lose days and months just to be able to play the game for couple hours in a week.

Why would you even defend such a system? Nonsense. You absolutely deserve how you are behaved. Well, continue sinking hours for gear, your time is apparently worthless, anyway..

@albertberku use all your characters, not just your special go to for VMA. This will give you better odds at quickly completing sets in the game.

Rng seems to bless some characters and spit on others.

If you are a newer player @albertberku and feel it is overwhelming on Vet for whatever reason, farm normal. :)

Personally, I would never want to spend money on the mats to upgrade the gear, so it is always Vet for me. Plus, you get lots of mats from deconstructing everything including the VMA weapons. Just something to think about.

Also, break up just grinding that set into small sessions. Take time to do something else of interest to enjoy yourself in the game, if you are having the farming blues....

Good luck !! I am rooting for you

If you’re just playing a couple of hours a week, you probably don’t need BiS gear. I would imagine that level of play in any other MMO would not get you anywhere near gaining or requiring gearsets like this

I haven’t found any grind in the game at all, I’m still enjoying farming gearsets, repeatedly doing dungeons and trials to get stuff for me or my friends.

You realize that you let them trick you, right? Instead of choosing to make do with something else, you subjected yourself to a grind that you didn't like and thereby ended up playing their game in an unenjoyable way far more than was tolerable.

    Don't be tricked like this.

That you are complaining about it suggests that fun is the higher goal than trying the set. So keep your eyes on that higher goal of having fun and go do something fun instead.

If you "have a life" as you say, you won't need top level gear. Just work around those items. vMA weapons are not going to make your DPS go through the roof. It's something like an additional 3-5k depending on your rotation (speaking from mag dd POV).
As other people said, ESO is not grindy at all. It's a walk in the park compared to other MMOs out there. So IF you decide that you can't live without said top level gear and IF farming is too much for you, then ESO is not the right game for you.

i am talking about Maelstrom Arena armor sets. Currently there are 6 armor sets. This makes 42 pieces. In an one person arena. So about 2% drop chance for a specific piece.

Why does MA have 6 sets? To make the grind even more annoying?

And you dont even spend the time there to kill stuff. If it takes 20 mins on normal, 16 mins is just for waiting things to spawn and rounds to begin.

Someone above made a good point, one that I stick to religiously. If I’m grinding for a set or weapon, I use my main AND all my alts to get the pieces. Especially true when I was looking for specific Maelstrom weapons. Everything I needed for my main, got from an alt and vice versa. Doesn’t avoid the grind, but seems to help the RNG a little.

Being insulting and condescending to people trying to help you, shows that you will not do well in any social game.

You joined a forum that is invite only because why....?

The truth is you’re frustrated with a game, so you came for some friendly advise. Maybe apologize for your comments and start fresh.

Everyone here has a life. Here on the forums people are passionate about a game they enjoy and play together. We are a community that helps each other mostly.

On live, the kindness and friendship is truly touching on eso. We get to play with friends around the world and even meet due to this engaging social activity. :)

I am a full time student finishing my degree, I work part-time, and enjoy time with my bf. ESO is very relaxing and part of my life, it is not my life but a game.

What i dont understand is the kind of people that defend a system, which makes you do the same thing 100 times. Well, this is the very definition of "having no life" for me. Is this game a "running same dungeon hundred times to be able to complete your set to be able to do the content that you like simulator" or what?,

And it makes me angry when people defend this nonsense. Because at the end it affects people like me, who just want to play the game. There are just more and more games with huge grind walls, if everyone is cool with it.

Hundreds of time? C'mon... It's not that bad. I got a friend to go with me to mazzatun, we both wanted the same set, and aside from his weapons, which he only got one, we needed to run less than 10 times to get two full sets. When you can transmute, no grinding is long enough anymore. I didn't even need a week, and I only play the game during night time, not all day long. I also do daily writs everyday and all that... I mean... The grind wasn't that bad at all. For two.

What do you expect? Play maelstrom once and get a set of your choice? And what exactly keeps you from playing the game? There is NO gear in the game you can't play without. Go ahead and enjoy the game. You can play any veteran dlc dungeon with overland or crafted sets. (Btw... the maelstrom sets are crap, don't know why you are farming them). ESO has a HUGE potential for casual gamers. More than any other MMO out there I'd say.
