It's just so tone deaf. If you don't give permission at all it's basically "well *** you too". But you can still be friends if you give in a little bit. Which feels worse knowing the other response.
It's a fantasy game but it's also 2020. No means no. Period. On Heart's Day and every other day of the year.signing off5 -

Yeah, I wish the reactions to choosing the "no thanks" options (which you have to do at least once to get the friends result) weren't so harsh. I mean you can like a person without wanting to get cozy, and that doesn't have to lead to a big blowup. Broken Branch Toothmaul - goblin (for my goblin characters, I use either orsimer or bosmer templates) Templar, member of the Order Draconis and persistently unskilled pickpocket
Mol gro Durga - Orsimer Socerer/Battlemage who died the first time when the Nibenay Valley chapterhouse of the Order Draconis was destroyed, then went back to Cold Harbor to rescue his second/partner who was still captive. He overestimated his resistance to the hopelessness of Oblivion, about to give up, and looked up to see the golden glow of atherius surrounding a beautiful young woman who extended her hand to him and said "I can help you". He carried Fianna Kingsley out of Cold Harbor on his shoulder. He carried Alvard Stower under one arm. He also irritated the Prophet who had intended the portal for only Mol and Lyris.***Order Draconis - well c'mon there has to be some explanation for all those dragon tattoos.
House of Dibella - If you have ever seen or read "Memoirs of a Geisha" that's just the beginning...
Nibenay Valley Chapterhouse - Where now stands only desolate ground and a dolmen there once was a thriving community supporting one of the major chapterhouses of the Order Draconis1 -

Personally speaking, it just kind of harshed the buzz to try out some of the friend-type options and have my buddy immediately go all angrified on me. I mean I'm all in on Darien romance, but even if I weren't he's too much of a bro to "drop you" if you'd rather just hang out and watch lightning strikes while you're finally getting that drink he's been promising you. The game provides a perfectly satisfying friendship outcome, but it felt like it was peppered with borderline hostility in some of the reactions along the way.
I should probably point out, if it wasn't clear from my earlier posts, that I thought the game was amazing in general and I've been getting a kick out of it all afternoon. While I think there's a time & place for everything, & agree with 'no means no' why bring irl pc issues into a video game was my thing.
