Why not have more than 12? It is very annoying to manage them. Make them like the undaunted keys!

Not likely cause they are selling it in crown store.

Unfortunately close management seems to be the goal of the cap. They want us to login in every day of an event and micromanage every day, tightly balancing how much we acquire and spend. They also don’t want us to hoard too many going into the following event. They’d rather have us grind for each event individually and buy extra tickets if we need to rather than stockpile them for future use.

It would be great to see the cap raised, but it would undermine a lot of their marketing strategy. I just don’t see them going in for it.

    ^This!^

The idea is to encourage people to populate the game during events, and thus they wouldn't wanna let people hoard tickets in easy to do events to go on a shopping spree for less easy to do events...
...and of course they want to force those people who really, really DO want to go on a shopping spree to pay for it.

So, its not likely to change, ever. Nor should it, really.

there's nothing to grind for. I don't need those ugly outfits and a I've got a horse.

Then you have no need to stockpile tickets. Congrats on escaping the rat race!

Meanwhile, there are millions of players grinding tickets for ALL the THINGS(!), and the number 12 is the lowest possible amount that doesn’t force people to lose tickets as long as they micromanage properly. New players in particular who are trying to catch up on indriks are extremely pressured to farm every day and buy additional tickets to get everything they want while it’s available. FOMO is very real for a lot of players. Those are the people the cap is meant for, and I imagine it must be very effective.

I hope they will increase the cap to 24 instead...

It was increased from 10 to 12. With the advent of 3 ticket rewards though I can see the need to increase the cap to 15-18.

Also what would nice is if you could sell motifs or whatever you buy with tickets for gold.

Pretty sure they want to make sure a player can't do a bunch of farming during an event or two and then skip other events completely. The events are there to create a demand for gameplay during that event. Plus, they also sell them in the crown store. Two reasons they won't remove the cap.

It was raised to 12 because of the 3 ticket per day festivals: If you have 10 or more, you need to spend some tickets; if you have 9 or fewer, you can collect the day’s tickets and then spend them.

Even with the extra tickets added to New Life there was still a 3-2 split, with 2 being locked behind a quest, so it wasn’t 5 all at once.

12 is the bare minimum number where carefully micromanaging means you don’t have to lose tickets. I can’t see them raising it any higher, because that means less micromanaging on our part and less resorting to buying tickets in the crown store.

Make sure you’re reading the other posts in your thread, @Agalloch.

ZOS won’t increase the cap because they want players participating in ALL the events ... and not grabbing tickets in one event to save and purchase in future events (while not participating in those future events).

I personally don't like them at all. There never seems to be enough for everything. If I hadn't read that last armor set dropped from the boxes I wouldn't have believed it so since I had enough for berries (and feathers when needed) I've never had enough for the extra stuff. That ticket limit (not only what you can hold but earn) makes me feel bad because I can't earn everything I'd like. Its no wonder so many drop out of this because its supposed to feel rewarding not a Sophie's Choice.

They had a cap long before you could buy them in the crown store; that's not the reason why.

They want people to participate in more events to get them; not just stockpile during an event that gives lots & then be set for the next 3+ berries. (I've seen similar in other games with events - they eventually switched the currencies around so you couldn't save them from year to year after a Massive Grinding Session.)

...I've also see games with caps for all sorts of "real" currencies. (Like SWToR only lets you have so many credits unless you sub; Star Trek Online has a f2p credit cap that you can pay to increase. Etc.)

As has been mentioned, there was a ticket cap when this system was developed. In of itself, that isn't a bad idea in the sense that a cap helps maintain player engagement. Maintaining player engagement in ways that are enjoyable for the customer is an example of a good, ethical monetization strategy. Our events used to do that very well.

This changed when event tickets were added to the cash shop. That never should have happened, but because it did the management of event currency has the potential to become a form of predatory monetization. I would argue it's already gotten there, and while others might not agree it certainly complicates how event tickets are handed out to customers. Now increasing the ticket cap doesn't just translate to less engagement from some players for certain events, it translates into lost revenue. And removing the cap entirely? There's just no way that'll happen. And if it did, it'd either be some sort of miracle or because a more lucrative scheme was cooked up to be implemented in its place.
