How is ZOS going to handle the release of new consoles this year? Will we be stuck on old hardware?

Just curious, with the release of PS5 and Xbox 2, how will they handle the new generation?

Some possibilities:
1. No PS5 or XBox 2 adaptations. We live and die last generation and the playerbase slowly dies out.
2. PS5 and Xbox 2 versions are released. We get faster, smoother gameplay but have to start from scratch.
3. PS5 and Xbox 2 versions released and we get to transfer our progress to the new systems (when we buy the next version, a small price to pay)
4. Offer transfers to PC version and don't make any adaptations. Players will have to adapt to new economies but will at least keep their crown purchases.

This has been answered about 50 times already

Both new consoles are backwards compatible and no specific changes to eso are going to be made

In time they may add enhancements to use features (see 4K for previous examples) but it will not change generally speaking

Thats good to know at least, no new versions of the game, but we'll be able to play them for the forseeable future.

What are these "Console Generations" you speak of? as a PC player I simply do not see a point.

Go look at how Sony handled DCUO when the PS4 was launched. If anything, that is how all mmos will handle the up coming consoles.

Technically speaking it's the same as pc the gen past and future . Just like up grading your pc. They could actually combine both pc and console with a few tweaks . But seeing how pc play is superior console would be at a disadvantage

Pretty much the same as PC chipset and GPU generation changes.

You can mod consoles with extra ram and hardware but I haven’t heard of replacing cpu or MB.

But yes PC just always seemed better to me as it can do everything a console can do. I guess these days some consumers don’t have PCs with tablets/smartphones.

OP; console is a revenue stream for ZoS; it is in their best interest to ensure it ports. I imagine part of the performance focus this year is to align it better with new console generation

You buy a PS5, login with the same account you did on your PS4, download and install the game from the PS Store , link your PSN and lo and behold their is your ESO game and characters just as on your PS4.

I think I had read somewhere one of the biggest differences with the ps5 will be in shorter time of loading screens...

had anyone else heard of any other significant changes with the new consoles...

I can't remember, but, I think they may be doing away with discs...

Both the PS5 and Xbox SX promise to basically negate loading screens. They are also both supposed to come with ray tracing abilities (improved graphics via realistic light)
