I am shocked
There was so many unique content on TESO housing... Anyone knows what's happened?

Yeah, but why not just leave the existing things up?

I brought this to the attention of my gm over at Cottages and Courtyards and she contacted Curry gaming via email. they left YouTube due to the enforcement of the COPPA law. Unfortunately this to them meant exiting without leaving any videos up so they could not be faulted for anything.

So, how did their videos contravene that law?

    Weren't they just housing?

Yes, they were just housing, coppa is very weird to navigate to be honest. There's a really good video that could explain it better than I can, just search what YouTube isn't tell you about coppa.

Here is en extract of a FAQ for channel owners from the FTC that stemmed from a suit against Youytube for violating COPPA.

"So how does COPPA apply to channel owners who upload their content to YouTube or another third-party platform? COPPA applies in the same way it would if the channel owner had its own website or app. If a channel owner uploads content to a platform like YouTube, the channel might meet the definition of a “website or online service” covered by COPPA, depending on the nature of the content and the information collected."

Not knowing what they might have collected, if anything, they or Youtube might have been collecting data from their channel that violated COPPA. I suspect as a result of the lawsuit Youtube expects its clients to be responsible for Youtube's compliance. Having read through some of the FTC COPPA documentation the owner could have decided it just wasn't worth having to worry about whether they were in compliance or not. I know I certainly would.

Housing is part of the game and the game is not for young children. The vagueness of some of Youtubes comments on the issue could lead those who do not want to risk the consequences to close shop.

Oh right, I got something about having to mark all my existing YouTube videos as safe for kids - or not, but I can’t do so using the current version (I use desktop mode instead of mobile because I could not figure out how to add my own videos to a playlist in that version). I have to switch to a new version, and I’m loathe to do that. Something tells me it will be more difficult too.

I don’t see why I can’t just mark my whole channel as not safe for kids, there are few videos that are not from games rated M.

You should be able to set the channel and not each video. You need to go to your Youtube Studio settings and go to the Advanced tab under Channel.

Yes. This one assumed all you had to do was set your whole channel to 'not for kittens' and all was good no?

Taking down all your content seems a terrible waste of a lot of hard work - unless of course the traveller has just generally had enough.

That would be handy but doesn’t sound like what I read in the e-mail YouTube sent me.

Have you actually gone through and done this?

Yet another example of how elected idiots ruin things for everyone :(
Playing your character the way your character should play is all that matters. Play as well as you can but never betray the character. Doing so would make playing an mmoRPG pointless.

I don't do Youtube but went to the settings panel where you can change it.

COPPA is cancer, an exceptionally toxic piece of legislation. Now you have a couple suits in Washington trying to push a new bill that is 100x worse. We have to fight this crap because the entire future of online freedom is in serious jeopardy.
