A new quest mechanic idea. Tempus itinerantur.

This is a time loop idea based on the Primer movie. Regarding quest making it could be a daily quest or a delve. The Player enters the area accessed through a portal or a delve, meets a certain NPC quest giver and receives the goal to kill Boss A and retrieve a Daedric weapon the one wields. The Player marches through the area to a certain point A and meets the Boss A. This point should not be far from the area entrance. Along the way to the point A that Boss A should be described through some scrolls or notes as the central figure of the whole quest story, as it's greatest evil. The Player fights him (or her) but a flash or some other similar event interrupts the battle and the two find each other separated. The player's goal since this time is to chase the Boss A and finish him. So the players proceed through the quest story killing mobs, Bosses B, C, D, E, etc. while diving deeper into the story of that Boss A and his deeds until they reach point B where they realize that while passing through the quest line they became.. the very Boss A.

Mobs and Bosses B-E should be changing at some points from, say, Daedra to common peasants but should still be named "Bandits" or some sort of that. Player dialogue lines with various NPCs should be unnoticeably changed to evil ones (e.g. good motives should lead to more victims among those "bandits"). At the end the Player gains the Daedric weapon and the appearance of that Boss A, finally realizes who he or she is and is given the task to defeat the hero who's rumored to have come after him and to liberate the locals. The Player (now styled as the Boss A) reaches that point A (possibly watching the real fruits of his previously "good" deeds along the way) and fights an NPC who bears the appearance and all the features of the Player's former self. Then it is the flash again, the "Player" NPC runs the same direction the real Player once ran to chase the Boss A, and the real Player styled as the Boss A meets the NPC quest giver, gives him the Daedric weapon he asked to bring him, gets back his appearance and leaves back to Tamriel.

Would you like to play a story based on this concept?

    You mean Tempus Itinerans?

    1. Salve! Ego sum civis Romana. Ego non loqui lingua. Ostende mihi viam ad proximum Romana Legio.
    2. Barbari, deditionem! Subvertat te gladiis et vade in Romana Legio. Nos mos suggero vos a calidum farinam, siccis vestibus et a plena range de Romani hospitio.

This is all I know in Late Latin :D.

Late indeed, and vulgar :D Tempus itinerantur means "time they are being travelled" sic. Tempus itinerans: time that travels, or travelling time.

Back to your idea, seems awesome!

I’m talking to the Boss in the mirror! I’m asking them change their ways!

Nice concept op. Could be a whole single player game. Also, I recommend the tv show DARK on Netflix. It’s originally in German. Similar concept.

That seems like a really interesting idea, but so much so that I feel like it would be wasted on a daily quest. Could be a whole quest chain rather, where there'd be enough time to fully explore the whole concept. And with all the dreamwalking and being magically cast into another person's shoes in a memory and stuff like that, that we have in ESO already, I could totally see this being possible. Very cool idea!
This poor little Bosmer stealth passive had passionate friends and a big loving family!

After reading all that despite the lack of paragraphs, would I like a quest or quests like that? not particularly.
