Music Boxes Could be Better

I like the music boxes that they are releasing in the crown store, but they are lacking in some ways given that I'm spending real money on them. My number one gripe is that I can only place it once in one house. I should be able to place it once in each house that I own if I want. They should also have a volume control that essentially controls the range that you can hear the music. Take for example the Coldharbour estate. You can only hear the music box in a portion of that property. That shouldn't be a thing. If I can put a trebuchet in my pocket, then I can hear a music box all over in my house. But in other homes, maybe I want a different music box to be heard in different areas, so that is where the volume control would come into play. If I could adjust the range of these things, it would be helpful.

But really, at the very least, I should have the ability to place this item in as many homes as I want just like you can with some of the worthless in game drops like that big ugly cat tomb and that big ugly green crystal. I can put those in every single house I own if I want, but not my music boxes. I just get one of those for my 800 crowns.

Come on. Make this better.

I agree. Music boxes should be a service. I actually think they might sell more because people would be more willing to collect them all if that was the case.

At least three of the music boxes are services. Blood and Glory, Diamond Melody and Y'ffre in Every Leaf all appear in my services tab. I know some of the other such as Flickering Shadows and Hinterlands don't. It would be good for all of them to show up as a service since they cost amount in Crowns and serve the same function. I can guarantee I will never buy more than one, if any, for those that are not a service so I don't think the current setup really helps sell more.

Would be nice, if only because it's really hard to know how many of each you need, in advance and they're not all for sale, all the time.

How much do you think they should charge for each of them, if they did this, though?

Also, would we trade in/part exchange the ones we already have for the service version?

...and what if the combined price of the ones we already have, of one or more of them, is more than the price of the service version?

Would they have to refund us the difference?

Or could we trade them in for another one?

    Oh...

So, I bought more than one for nothing?!

Edit: OK, so just checked and even though they do show up in Services, you still need to have one (or more) to place, in your bag/bank/storage containers, for them to do so.

You can't just place endless ones, in all your houses, just because you bought one.

I never noticed that unlike other services music boxes only allow one copy. I assumed they were in the list so would act like assistants and storage boxes. Just tried it and it you are correct, they is only one item to place. This gives me pause on buying anymore due to the deceptive way they present them in the housing editor. I still standby the need for music boxes to be a true service so they can be placed in multiple dwellings.

Yes, I agree, they should be.

Although, I assume they would then charge a few thousand Crowns for them, rather than 800?

For me at least they would make them more money as I won't buy multiple copies. After all to get the same effect all I need to do is turn down the in-game music and have something else playing in a music app.

I don't think they should adjust the price. 800 crowns is still a lot for ONE song. I mean, presumably they are going to have bards down the road for your homes. Those they can charge more for because they would in theory know multiple songs. But for one song in a box. Yeah, the current price should include placing it in as many homes as I want and also include a volume control to adjust the coverage area.

sorry, i guess when i said service i meant like the merchant and banker....

i forgot just because its service doesnt mean it can be placed multiple times.

one box should be able to be placed on many homes.

Yeah, I like some of the tunes, but I also like them because of the way some of them look.

The other smaller ornaments, that are available in-game, are still somewhat limited; so, the music boxes are nice to have and add a bit of life to a house.

Yeah, I doubt that will happen (this is ZOS, afterall!), but it's a nice dream.

Realistically, I think we would be talking at least 2000 Crowns, per box (maybe more).

That would be the price of 2.5 music boxes, at the current price, for unlimited use.

I think a bard, with multiple songs, would probably be more in the banker/merchant price range...

I had hoped they'd be collectible furnishings when they were introduced. When I found out they weren't, I decided not to buy any of them. At 800 crowns for a just one song? Nah...though if you like the look of them and want to use them as a decoration, I can see a price point of 400 crowns, but not 800. I would pay 1,000-1,500 if they were a collectible, but no more, since it's still just one song.

I would pay an assistant price of 5,000 crowns for a bard, who knew multiple songs. It'd add more life to our homes than a plinky music box does.

Also, in regard to services, I believe that crafting stations show up under services and they are, as we all know, not collectible furnishings. There should be a tag somewhere on all furnishings to indicate if they are a collectible furnishing, or a special (FX) furnishing, or a special collectible furnishing. Also, not all collectibles show up in the services category. As all ESO+ members know, the collectible statuettes are under the gallery category.

    Agreed.

They're overpriced, but then most things are.
