Next gen consoles and account transfers

With the next gen consoles sound the corner, will console and pc players be able to transfer their accounts to other platforms? ZOS should be preparee to lose many consoles players whom decide to switch platforms but have no interest in starting over.

PS 5 will play on the same server as PS 4. Same with Xbox
No transfer is needed, but you can not go from xbox to ps 5
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

Transfers won't be need if you stay with the same brand console as both will be backward compatible.

As far as switching between platforms, zos stated at console launch they could do a 1 time transfer from PC during a limited window due to how the databases function. If they can resolve that issue it could be possible, but since there aren't going to be new servers, I don't know if it's physically possible.

Give us playable servers or set us free and let us account transfer!!! I also don’t buy into the thought that ZoS cannot do it... they just don’t want to spend the money...

You may be right, but console plays will choose the cheaper or better console. If the platform chosen happens to be different from the current platform used, ZOS will lose players. Console players do not only play ESO, just as PC players do not only play ESO. Either way, with the coming of next gen consoles, ZOS will have to figure something out.

    Why?

They did a one off when console ed came out

They didn’t do anything for Xbox one s or x
They didn’t do anything for PS4

It won’t happen unless they specifically make a transfer tool and figure out how to moneterise it

Transfer to other platforms? Doubtful. This topic has been beat to death....but the outcome: Yes, it can obviously be done but the amount of time/effort is not worth the return. When they had a blank database, they allowed PC to transfer for a short time because they didn't have to develop the functionality to handle transferring potentially identical data into a new database.

But, when I upgrade my Xbox X to the new Gen system there will not be any need to account transfer there. Whether I'm on the X or the new Gen, it's running of the same server.

I think enough new or newish players buy the expansions for ZOS not to have to worry about loosing a few....

As mentioned above, @sly007, as long as you stay on the same console brand it won’t be a problem for you.

Best to get the console transfer idea out of your head now ... so you’re not disappointed later.

Some may, but don't discount brand loyalty among console users.

On top of that, there are many, many reasons people choose one console over another. For instance, I wouldn't touch a PlayStation until they either restrict alt account creation or turn to a subscription model for online play. Frankly I don't trust security on a service that has unrestricted access.

Performance and exclusive titles would have to HEAVILY lean to one or the other to get people to switch, imo.

Judjing by what ff14 and dcuo did with ps3 player with the comming of the ps4 the chance are that
They wont be tranfer at all since your account is tied to your psn id(or the xbox equivalent) by login in on the new console you will be on the same server
And in a few year the may cut off the support for current gen blocking access to the server if use by ps4 or one

Ff14 stopped the ps3 support in 2017 with the release of storm blood

Also if they really want to go to tranfer route
You would need a ps5/seriex by the eso next gen release if you want to continue playing and tranfer since you would need to tranfer before the server goes live like with pc at console release but wouldnt be able to olay on ps4/one after it forcing you to have the newer console
This maybe a bad choice that early in the new gen

This. I've had a PS1/2/3/4 over the decades. I don't doubt I'll get a PS5 eventually (never gotten a console in launch year). Never even considered an XB.

(briefly thought about a cheap used Wii, but I've got more than enough games in my backlog that buying a console for like three games & a gimmick controller was silly. And that wouldn't have replaced my PSwhatever, just been another console alongside it.)

Next gen console info will probably be handed similar to how DCUO was handled when the PS4 launched. You simply have access to the game with the system having improved graphics.

Yep, brand loyalty is pretty significant, especially when it comes to those exclusive titles. I've been on Xbox for a majority of my gaming career, and that is mainly due to Halo. I've dabbled with other systems like PS4 (other exclusive titles) and PC (much broader game selection and how I first started ESO), but I will always upgrade and keep the Xbox as my main. Another big aspect of sticking with the same brand is the controller (consoles). You get so used to one type of controller and it can be difficult when you switch to another console. I love watching those Madden Finals where they play one game on PS and another on Xbox to determine the best player....it's such a challenge to be proficient with multiple types of controllers.
