Combination: 2 PC/NA mains (2 accounts) are getting toward Master Crafter, all my alts craft low level stuff when I'm feeling short of gold (used to do all of them every day, but burnt myself out last anniversary); 2 PC/EU mains craft every day and researching etc. toward Master Crafter; alts there craft when out of gold for riding training.

Downgrade deluxe crafter (All chars - max level crafting skills with research traits)
Only one crafter, which is my only, main character. Why would someone spend time and gold doing research and buying motifs for a second crafter?

I am almost done leveling a second crafter though I am only taking it to eight traits. All research gear, motifs and other leveling items that the character needs are picked up through quest lines or are provided by my fully leveled main crafter. Unlike my main character leveling a second character in crafting hasn't cost me any gold. In fact the character makes gold via daily crafting writs and the additional Master writs it receives. Another driver is I don't like the class the character plays and figure making it a crafter is better than throwing it away. I don't see myself ever becoming a mega crafter but two or maybe three are very manageable and at no additional cost over the first.

EU server - My main char is the grand master crafter: all traits researched in every crafting skill, at least 55 styles fully learned, knows all the purple n all the golden provisioning recipes including Mythical Aetherial Ambrosia. Learns all the furnishing pages I find - I'm not sure how many furniture pieces I can craft but they're quite a lot atm (also has acquired all the golden recipes from voucher vendor)
My 7 alt chars have all the crafting ranks and passives at max, most of the traits are already learned and some of them have some style motifs complete - they all fully learned Hallowjack n Skinchanger at least due to the ratio drop rates from events thru the years.
Daily writs done with all of them.

NA server - My main char has already maxed some crafting ranks in all the crafting skills and currently learning some traits. Some motif style pages learned already n some recipes.
One alt char atm who I'm still leveling in crafting ranks n passives mainly because I'm trying to gather more resources from different levels.

Yes, ez gold mats, but no master writs.

I get some master writs once in a while with my alts but not as often as I get with my main.

Technically my alts aren't maxed out yet, but I am working towards that.

Serious question: what's the advantage to learning motifs on all of your characters? I understand maxing skills and research and the benefits from that, but I can't think of a reason that would make learning motifs on all chars worth the time+money

Master writs ratio drop: the more fully learned motif styles the char knows, higher are the odds of getting master writs in daily writs rewards.

It is of course a stable way of income but...

One main crafter with all motifs and recipes. Every one of the full roster of alts has/will have maxed crafting and 8 traits researched. There is no reason to try to duplicate all the motifs on alts.

One character does Blacksmithing, Clothing, Wood, Jewelry, Enchanting. 9 trait, almost all motifs.

Another does Furniture, Provisioning, Alchemy. Focuses on learning furniture and food recipes.

Other characters only go for the perks to boost food/potion durations and to more effectively gather/deconstruct stuff. They don't actually craft anything.

I do writs on all of my characters; about half of them currently do top tier gear writs, almost all do top tier alchemy/enchanting. Just a matter of getting skill points as I go. The only one that I don't get everyone to top in is provisioning. Instead, I split those levels equally between my characters (so 3 do tier 6, 3 do tier 5, etc).

My main and my original master crafter are 9-traits while the rest have or are working towards 8-traits in everything but jewelry.

As for motif knowledge, both my main and master crafter have invested gold in that, though it wasn't initially planned to be that way. My master crafter is not my main because my main was not my achievement hunter. Now that I have decided to pursue achievements with my main, she needs to learn motifs that the other has already learned. An expensive mistake, for sure.

None of the options is quite right but to expand. All characters are at 50 in all crafting skill lines (I have one or two low level characters finishing out alchemy and provisioning). I have a master crafter. The rest all have at least alchemy (so they can make their own potions on demand) at top level, and most have 1-2 other crafts at top level, and the others at level 1. All can refine/deconstruct most items efficiently, and have 5-6 traits researched to make transmutation easy.

    Crafty alfiq?
Im going to use this as the " Other" option. I have 3 maxed out crafters and the rest are level 1. All know green recipes( for writs), all working on cheaper motif sets, only main is gaining all recipe/furnishing/motif knowledge. Im working on getting more up to master crafter level but i wait until a character has learned a sufficient amount of motifs, has level 50 in the skill, has over 75% traits researched, and has enough spare skill points.
Only one crafter, which is my only, main character. Why would someone spend time and gold doing research and buying motifs for a second crafter?
Because it matters for master writs.
Technically my alts aren't maxed out yet, but I am working towards that.

Serious question: what's the advantage to learning motifs on all of your characters? I understand maxing skills and research and the benefits from that, but I can't think of a reason that would make learning motifs on all chars worth the time+money

@January1171 From what i have read and from my own observation,

    * You dont get master writs unless the skill is full trained
    * Research seems to affect the frequency of writs you get for equipment.
    - For food it seems to be ( purple?) recipes.
    - For enchanting, it seems to be runes discovered.
    - For alchemy ingredient traits known.
*The number of complete purple motif styles known seem to increase the value of the master writs. If you compare a character that only knows a few purple styles to one that knows most, you will see the one that knows a few might get a writ every once in a while in the 10s and 20s rarely might get one up around 50 and a majority will be under 10. On a crafter with a good portion of styles fully learned 10-30 writs become pretty common, 30-70 range become more frequent and you start getting writs in the low hundreds.

I farm my own motifs most of the time so the lower value ones all go to my other crafters in a pecking order. I do this casually as i typically have 2-4 characters parked in a farming spot in the world and rotate through which ones are farming and which ones are being played.

I also set all my characters up to be able to do quick dailies. Making sure the dailies are available to them and wayshrines to all possible places they need to go are unlocked. Then during the anniversary event i do crafting writs on everyone, i then cycle through them for the faster dailies, and the move to dailies that take longer on a third pass until i get tired or board of doing dailies that day.

This results in a rather large amount of anniversary boxes which results in a rather large amount of motifs in all styles. I will apply the cheaper styles and save the harder to get styles except for my main who gets all unknown pages.

When the event is over i will go shopping on each character as style prices will hit rock bottom for the year. I will spend a few million on styles, some for me and some more rare ones for my bank. Then when we get into fall most styles will have lost all the excessive overstock and i will spend the winter selling off my stock for 10,20,50 times and more what i paid for it 6 months ago.

I use the money from that to fund buying more motifs after the next event some for me and some for sale. And it increase the amount of master writs i get and can do which means i can buy more rare stuff for my own use and to sell.

It doesnt take me any money to learn styles because other people fund it. All i have to do is let stacks of pages sit somewhere. And the reward for any time spent more than makes it worth it.

Other chars decon whatever they find for mats and progression, anything above blue quality goes mainly to my crafter.

I started out with each character learning a few crafts, planning to share them all out between characters. But motifs killed that idea - there's no way I'm going to waste my time and gold getting multiple copies of all the motifs I might want.

So instead I have one dedicated crafter who maxed out all the crafts and makes stuff for everyone else.

Other 16 toons are all level 50 in everything but jewelry crafting, still have a few more to level in that arena (think I have 11 or 12 maxed in JC). At one point, I started doing research on my other characters, but I gave up. I just coudlnt tell a difference with rewards from writs, which was really the only reason to do it (I think supposedly you get better Master Writs).
