What's up with all the vMA 2H axe style

A big number of small scalers, 1vXers i see in Cyro and IC seem to use the vma 2h axe style. Usually with the skeleton polymorph or the emperor costume. Is it just a style statement or is there an actual unknown benefit from it? Or maybe some kind of a secret fight club?

probablly is the maelstrom weapons, a lot of pvp builds include them

No, they dont. Smalscalers rarely use gap close and If so, other set are way better.
Most player just love the style or the nastolgia from the old days where those weapons were good for PvP.2
