What changes would you make if you could to improve ESO?

Basically how would you improve this game if you had the power to?

- I would make it so the game begins in either of the 3 starting areas but you can begin the main quest just as you do now, a lot of players I imagine have not even visited these locations.

- If you die before initiating the main quest or post-main quest, the death visual would be different, instead of becoming a specter that reforms it would be more of a case of you not actually being killed but instead knocked unconscious and then slowly getting back on your feet, the whole soul gem mechanic would basically be smelling salts instead, this would also help with the immersion regarding the Vestige's mortality, according to quests in the Clockwork City the Vestige is supposed to be mortal at that point in time, there is even dialogue near the end where you say that you almost died, that does not seem like something an immortal would say.

- I would make it so certain quests cannot be initiated before doing certain other quests, this one Tamriel ruined a lot of things chronologically, imagine if you do the main quest after Dragonhold and choose to sacrifice Sai Sahan, you would still find him alive and well in the Dragonguard Temple afterwards despite the fact you just killed him, bit of an immersion breaker that, same with Prince Naemon, You can encounter him alive and well in Khenarthi's Roost even if you have killed him during the AD questline.

- I would disable the whole alliance thing in general and make it far less of a focus, not every player is a soldier in some army or even wants to be, make it only apply to Cyrodiil and the Imperial City, when you enter the campain it will ask who you want to fight for during this campaigns duration.

- I would reduce the numbers of pretty much everything like it used to be, why 20,000 health? is 2,000 not enough? larger numbers serve no purpose.

- I would make being a Thief more profitable, why is it we can only steal items from NPCs to sell, why can we not just straight up steal gold from them instead? all these other items you would find in sacks and baskets and chests and what not.

I'd make the game more complicated to make people think that they are smart playing it.

    1. I'd divide the map of Tamriel into three factions again, except for DLC and expansions. (Makes more sense story-wise!)
    2. I'd introduce account-wide achievements and account-wide crafting recipes. (So you would never have to achieve or learn the same thing twice!)
    3. I'd introduce a standard, PVE, free-for-all Cyrodiil zone accessible from all bordering areas. (So you don't have to feel like you're messing up a whole Campaign when you're just curious and casually exploring Cyrodiil!)
    4. I'd introduce a sixth ability slot. (I always get the feeling I'm one slot short?)
    5. I'd introduce extra abilities, new animations and extra morphs for existing weapon skill lines. (You can never have too much variety!)
    6. I'd give players more options to increase their running speed and attack speed through itemization. (Probably at the cost of recovery and damage!)
    7. I'd increase the time it takes to catch a fish, but also increase the chance of catching a ''rare'' fish. (I've been counting, and one time, I had 600+ fish in my inventory before I caught the one I needed to complete the zone achievement!) (It's a bit much sometimes, really!)

That's what I'd do. Of course that sounds a lot easier than actually doing it. I'm quite happy with the game as it is, and I know you can't please everyone. I'm sure we'd all like to see certain things which are currently not in the game. Seriously though, as far as MMO's go, this one has a *lot* of things which other MMO's don't.

    I'm happy.

For me the list of improvements I'd enjoy seeing wouldn't match up with many others but here it is.

    1. Drastically reduce the size of Twilight Matriarch. Force it to land and stop moving when the owner stops moving. All combat pets are unsummoned near craft stations and writ turn in boxes.

    2. Add an ingame option for a minimap. Yes PC has addons but it's ridiculous this is not a base game option

    3. All achievements would be tracked account wide. This is something that will hold back OCD type players as they are encouraged to get all achievements on a single character currently. Achievement hunters are basically locked into the toon with the greatest number of achievements even if new classes are released later. This is not a problem for everyone, but for some, it's very annoying.

    4. Class change and faction change. I know that at least for faction change ZOS has stated it just won't happen. It would still be an option I'd like to see. These are the last two things we can never change about our characters.

    5. More storage for gear either in houses or something similar such as having our alts (and their inventories) accessible as NPC's in our houses.

    6. Reduce the incentive to faction stack in PVP or create an environment that can handle the load. Either option works for me though ZOS seems unable to reduce the lag/disconnects associated with large amounts of players in one place and unwilling to make it undesirable to stack (outside of the lag issues it causes).

    The biggest...

Bring back some level of difficulty. Developers always do this. The original game is pretty well balanced, but then to make it more appealing or for new people to not feel behind the nerf the content into the ground. Well that's all fine and good for attracting new people but then when those people finally start doing content that needs some "skill" or you can't just spam a couple skills they can't do it and don't understand way. The initial leveling experience should be teaching you how to play the game at the end. Not just throw you at the end and be like here you go Good luck.

Have more overland content that requires groups like old Craglorn. That is a thing that made the original MMOs so great. You had to forge relationships with people along the way. Then you just kept playing with those people. Now you can just ignore everyone through 90% of the content, then just "tolerate" people to do the little bit you can't do a lone.

Add an optional overland (and possibly delve and solo dungeon) hard mode toggle. Hard mode would trigger some extra bonuses like more experience, more gold and some extra loot drops. Nothing to break the game but just enough to give the players that complain the game is too easy an incentive to go hard mode while still leaving the normal mode as it is for the rest of us who just want to play casually.

Delete Warden and Necromancer Class and start them again from scratch. Keep the new Warden and Necromancer to the original base class theme.

Give Necromancers a proper Ice skill line. Proper summoning skill line and death magic skill line.

Give Warden more of nature theme. Access to pet taming skill line focuses on summoning pets and nature based pets such as spriggrans and spirits. Nature focus skill line were players can summon vines to do damage and healing flowers and water magic. Hunting skill line focusing on laying traps and poisons and overall have a hunting/tracking theme to it.

I would like to see an actual crafting system, something as complicated as the combat mini game. Right now it's just something tacked onto endgame for making alts decent gear.

I would like overland mobs to do more damage, especially their special attacks. Give overland combat a bit more challenge. Reducing the character's hitpoint scale could help too.

Encumbrance... ~sighs~ Right now it's all about slots and the immersion-killing craft bag. This has become ridiculous.

Armor: heavy armor absorbs more damage but encumbers more.

A better separation between magic and mundane. What if I want to play a swordsman and not a sorcerer? If anybody can pick up a stick that shoots fireballs or lightning, why would anyone pick up a sword?

Is my character THE hero or A hero? Storyline and death mechanics need to explain why there are so many unkillable, world saviors running around.

There is a lot of things I would like to change but one in particular...

    1. Give us better quantity of alchemy mats from the nodes please. Just hate spending a hour getting mats to just be able to make 100 potions. Just would be nice to get 2 or maybe 3 per node rather than 1.

    - Get rid if that annoying stuck in combat bug in Cyrodil. Why can't we mount in combat anyway?
    - Guild management tools integrated instead of from addons. Such as total sales, sales per member, actual guild income from kiosk sales. And some history.
    - Everyone would be able to see their own guild bank deposits/withdrawals at minimum. And this feature would not depend on guild ranks. Everyone.
    - stricter flagging for gold buying and botting

Loads of great ideas here. There are a few QOL things I’d really like to see:-
    1. Add a sixth Guild slot
    2. Let me reorder guilds, so Guild 1 is the one I want
    3. Add a sixth skill slot, or make “toggle” skills passive
    4. Increase furniture limits in housing, and remove the pointless category limits
    5. Let me buy an alliance change token if I want to
    6. Let me buy a class change token if I want to
    7. When placing furniture, remove my character from the screen and let move up and down without building scaffolding
    8. Make achievements account wide.

Any or all of the above would make my day.

    1. Account wide achievements. Let us enjoy the game and work towards one goal. One would think the servers wouldn’t struggle so much if each account had one journal per account instead of up to 18 atm per account.

    2. Account wide AP rank. It’s tough to enjoy PvP when you feel obligated to use the same class just to get to GO. Sorry to the NBs that send me hate whispers cause I spam jabs and won’t let you cloak. I don’t want to play Templar in PvP but it’s my main and I’m stuck with it.

    3. Reviving dead sets and giving people more options for endgame PvE. What’s the point of even adding more sets when 100+ are dead or just used as a troll build.

    4. Huge housing improvements. Raised housing limits. Writ boards, Writ turn in NPC, StableHand, moving NPCs, Characters in houses, mannequins, such a huge market here. People have proved they will dump huge amounts of money building their dream home.

    5. Alliance change tokens. Mistakes were made yada yada yada.

I could go on for awhile but I feel these are my top 5

So many things I’d do differently... I’d tackle server performance and reliability. As a software designer myself, reliability is critically important. It’s amazing that ZOS has so little regard for performance and reliability.

Also I’d add a ton of achievement only mounts/outfit styles/costumes/pets. Locking all that stuff behind the paywall is disgusting.

    Other ideas:
    - Auction house. I hate going from stall to stall to stall to stall to stall to stall trying to find an item I want.
    - Account-wide achievements.
    - Account-wide pvp rank.
    - Increase the storage limit in homes
    - Increase the decoration limit in homes
    - Revive/retool old sets. Hundreds of old sets not being used will only make it harder to design new sets.
    - More mount ideas: boars, etc. Not just the same lazy horse/bear/tiger/camel combo over and over again. Painfully transparent laziness.

I just want lore based racials from the past 25 years back. The bar is really low for me at this point.

If they can just take that one small step I could be satisfied.

Other things I’d like to see
-The ability to turn off all notifications, all of them. I don’t need to see that someone just logged into their 18 characters in a row. But even better than that I would have set the game up by character not by account. I don’t mind my healer having a massive friends list, but some characters I make to be alone.i know this would take a huge ground up restructuring of the game so instead I’d like more account wide features. Not all achievements, but some more of them.
-Story mode dungeons. A no reward story mode would increase the value of ESO+ and allow people to get 100% of what they paid for. For many, game is for relaxation not competition. Elder Scrolls is only interesting to me because of the story. Nothing else drew me to this game. I preferred Tera for Action combat, I preferred SotNW for aesthetics, I preferred TF2 for pvp. The only thing TES has is story. Being punished for it seems like a waste of money.
    - Faction change available after a character has completed Cadwell’s. No more “but the quests will be messed up” problems. Also it makes sense that a character might want to change faction after seeing what their people do to their enemies.

this was a change put in place waaaayy back when the cp system was introduced. the numbers actually used to be much smaller, but with the introduction of the cp system and the gradual micro increases in power it entails zos wanted players to have a more clear indicator of their progression in the numbers

Monetization. If you want freemium game with loot boxes, grindy and time wasting playing experience with play2notplay and pay2notwait options, then make it a free game. If you want sell a game and subs then make it a game with rewarding play and proper performance.

I would remove LFG entirely and stimulate more social interaction.
If it weren't for the rich lore of the Elder Scrolls universe to keep you busy and entertained solo, this game would have been a major flop.

For it's exactly like world of warcraft just a online rpg with a multiplayer lobby.
There's little massive about it and the community mostly keeps to them selves.

Other than that, I would improve the textures for they're starting to become outdated ( mainly the vanilla textures )
I would also implement more character customization and en-able all guilds on all standard editions.
I still think it was a poor decision to exclude the thieves guild and the darkborhter hood from anyone who bought the base game. It has always been part of the standard content of any elder scroll games and I see no reason for it to be locked behind a paywall in Eso, other than scoring an extra few bucks. Now we could argue that they have to make money some how to support the product, which I would agree on, by adding new fresh content and not rehashing old standaard lore assets tied to a new zone with limited content and locked behind a time gated skill grind. They shouldn't have introduced DLC's to begin with, just expansions.

Further more, I would balance pre CP battlegrounds with the removal of set bonusses.
The reason behind this is various long term players over-power their character by either buying or crafting significantly stronger items and or skills ( vampire, werewolf ) to have an edge over regular players without these extra's. Probably due to the player lacking the required to skill to perform well enough on his main's pvp bracket.
With the removal of set bonus it all comes down to player skill, knowledge and game sense making the pre CP experience more competitive and balanced for every player. My reasoning behind this decision is based on new player appeal.
For if a new player were to step in to a battle ground when he/she reached level 10 for the first time and they're met with people of similar level 1 shotting them, they will receive it as a imbalanced trash fest, where he or she with the biggest wallet or strongest main wins the game.Which might ruin any interest in progressing their character even further or pvp / game participation at all leading up to longer battleground queue's or a shrinking active player base as a whole.

Those are the changes I would make

STOP RELEASING ANY MORE DLC RELATED TO DRAGONS FFS.

Dragons in ELSWEYR of all places is beyond ridiculous. They had no basis ANYWHERE whatsoever in the lore. As to why ZoS thought introducing them in ESO (and making them canon by default of doing so)-- without the fan base noticing the obvious store cash grab-- is baffling.

Dragons are Aedra which have ZERO relevance in the rich lore that is the world of the Khajit. There are a minimum of 17 different species of Khajit tied into the moon phases. But you mean to tell me you couldn't come up with a decent chapter MQ that would center around this unique, key lore?? WHY IS THERE ONLY ONE SPECIES OF KHAJIT AKA SUTHAY-RAHT which appear in ESO? Why is our character creation restricted to only this one species of Khajit? Why are our mounts and pet cats to an extent, only being used as the suggested forms of Khajit??

    http://en.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Khajiit

Seriously. The fan base isn't that stupid ZoS. Stop trying to over monetize and cheapen the single player TES V: Skyrim experience. I didn't buy this cash grab of a DLC, and completely hesitant to buy the upcoming one (yet ANOTHER cheap Skyrim cash grab). Which if the marketing shots are a true spoiler, apparently show a direct cut and paste of the single player game Skyrim 4E Solitude landscape and topography. When said landscape was most likely quite different in the Interregnum over a 800+ years ago during 2E???

[Snip]. Besides Tamriel, Nirn still has a MASSIVE continent -- aka AKAVIR with it's unique denizens--that we've yet to explore in either single player TES or ESO. WTH can't you focus on extending and developing that part of the lore?

Whatever you do, NO MORE DRAGONS OR SKYRIM BASED DLC FFS. Doing so will imply you've devolved to EA level of exploitation and obsession with milking the fan base dry with the store. Instead of being the publisher who was reknown for producing AAA RPG single player games

Separate how skills work in PvP and PvE.

Make inside a home a different instance than outside so we can have more slots for furnishing. Probably other things would need to happen also.

A food or potion that a character could consume to lower stats making overland content more difficult.
